Marketing a website.

I have just creating a website which I have been marketing aggressively. I found that it is not that easy to get traffic and keep the traffic comming back. I would be very interested in opinions of members what keeps them going to a website again and again with specific example.
I have a free classifieds site http://www.serviceshorizon.com with articles on various topics and good deals and trying to get some repeat traffic to site.

I would also like to know how you have been marketing your website as I am also having a website and I also want to increase traffic to my site I have tried to indroduce it in various forums, etc. but it is not quite successful.
Please do share your method of marketing your website.
