i was born and raised as a catholic..
i was really intrigued by the the second commandent in my religion..
"thou shalt have no other gods before me"
i was seven years old when i asked myself:
"what about other people who have their faith in another religion,,?will god forsake them?
will god condemn people who are worshiping vishnu, shiva buddha and allah ..?
will god prevent them from entering heaven?"
the question left me with no answer..
then it came to me,,
maybe it all comes down to what we believe..
no matter what our religion may be,
as long as we are not a burden in this world,
as long we are not making other people suffer,
as long as we are not hurting or killing other people,
i think we could rest in peace knowing that we deserve to be there with god when we pass away..

Those have been exactly my thoughts for so long. I'm a Muslim, and I've seen other people who call themselves good Muslims, hurt other people not just through their actions but through their words.
People have their religions and they think only their religions are right and they have like a ticket to heaven. What I think is God made all of us, so why would he just prefer a handful of us over the others. It's like a parent deciding the fate of their children even before they're born.
What i also always think is, and I've also asked this of my friends, that suppose you weren't born in the religion that you're born into. would you still have the same religious values. If only one specific group is preferred by God, it doesn't make sense, because what if you're born in a remote place in a religion not preferred by Him, and you never even discover or know about other religions, but you lead a good life, and die, then were you doomed even before your birth, because you had no chance to choose anyway? To find the 'right' religion?
It doesn't make sense. I think God loves everyone, it's people who hate people.
Even in the Quran, when God addresses people, he always says 'oh, believers' and not 'oh, Muslims'. If he doesn't discriminate, what right do we have to discriminate?
Isn't faith more important than any of this, and leading a good life.
