DOTA was first developed by Eul as a custom map in warcraft ROC.
However, it was stolen and modified as Dota Allstars for the TFT, which is now extremely popular.
Which one do you play?
i personally perfer classic dota as it really requires teamwork and strategy, whereas dota allstars is more individualistic and concerned with hero kills.
However, Dota allstars is now so popular and it is very hard to find good games in dota classic, so I do play allstars quite frequently.

Classic dota is great!!!I like human and night elves, but now in my opinion i must follow the trends.Online gaming is so popular and i love to play dota whether its lan or online games.Actually, dota heroes was based on classic dota and they improved the skills including the maps.

Dota all stars is also about strategy and teamwork.. it's very popular hear in the philippines. even the best player using the most powerful hero will be no match if there's no teamwork. I haven't played the original version but Dota allstars for TFT ROCKS!!

haha you should try the classic one. But I think most people will not like Dota Classic if they started off with Allstars. This is because classic dota "appears" to be less exciting :D

Its about the same, 5v5.
Each race has about 10-12 heroes.
Each hero only has 10 levels, which I prefer compared to the 20 levels of torture in Allstars :D

Euls was the original maker of the Dota map but I don't think it was stolen by the new administrator of the game. As what I heard, Euls passed it down to other creators. Those creators add and revised some bugs, heroes, map and skills. After getting tired of it they passed it down to another one. Some of the famous Dota creators are Guinsoo and Icefrog who is the current creator of version 6.
The older version are good ones but they have some bugs and imbalances that needs to be nerf. I still prefer to use the new one because it is more balanced and more fun to play too.

Eul did pass down to other creators, but not to Guinsoo :P
He never wanted it to go to TFT, because he was creating another map for that. In the end, his new map bombed :p
Anyway thats all in the past, Eul disappeared soon after and nobody knows what happened to him now...
