Since I'm just new, I wanted to know what's on your mind? I've seen several topics with just 1 or no response at all, how do you go about in responding to a discussion? Do you choose what topics are to be responded? Or does it have to be interesting Or do you respond to most of the topics you see?

I tend to respond to discussions that I have knowledge in and know a bit of something about it. This way I can guarantee the response I give will be a quality response, and not something I toss together for the sake of posting a quantity number of responses a day. I am not ruled by the earnings that we make here--for me it is important that the discussion provoke and promote quality discussions. I also take the time to go back to most of the discussions I've been to each week and look for follow-ups, like whether the person that started the discussion has commented back to me, and then I can continue the conversation/communication by responding back if it is required or I have something more to add. The topic definitely has to interest me. Think about it, if we go around responding to every discussion whether or not they interest us, how can we guarantee that the response we give will have anything thought provoking or of quality to add to the conversation? Mylot writer's guidelines even say if you do not know enough about a topic, you should refrain from posting in it--why, because if you don't have knowledge of the topic, then what really are you going to add to the discussion other than some nonsense generic response to let someone know you read their discussion--and Mylot doesn't want that. My motto here is: Quality outshines quantity.

What really catches my attention is discussions that can make me relate..Like love, because i'm inlove this time and i have lots of experiences about love. Like, being a parent, because i'm already a parent and their are lots of discussions here about parenting. Also like being a woman, or household chores, things that makes me interested and love to respond..I dont like to reply those discussions that cant make my reply short or those that i cant relate..

That's one that I can respond to also, something we can relate because we know the feelings.. =) You have stated your reasons on the discussions you would want to reply to.. I'm glad to hear that, it would mean you have more discussions to reply to because of your role..

I choose response as more I can to my friends discussions first. If one person start many at least one of him topic and I choose those are good friends of mine support me and remember me.I haven't much time to do all so this way is more fair. When I have little more time I choose response to discussions with no response and some of new members.I think we met each other like this right? Also I like very much to response at old topics even few months ago,is nice to see people start response to those again.

Well, there are usual times that we are busy and might not be home to check mylot out but as far as we want to response more we still try.. Yeah, I think so.. :) hehe I do bump into old interesting topics, I do hope people can share their opinions more.. :)

Mostly I respond to people who respond to me. Since you have put up a question, its friends that are my first priority and then intresting discussions, which hold my attention, I answer to them.

I respond to discussions that tickle my fancy. Ones that I have knowledge about. Some of them are new discussions, or discussions with no responses yet. The avatar or ratings doesn't matter to me.

Well, when it comes to ratings I don't think I'll also checked on that when replying to discussions.. I think that if we enjoyed posting here then it would be good to go for something we have an idea about to discuss with other people.. :) I also usually checked on discussions with no response.. Thanks!

As for me, I would look or search for discussions that cater to my points of interest. Sometimes they are hard to come by. My second stage would be to look for other topics that are OK by nature and not abusive or incitive of negativeness. Most of the times, I'd avoid one word or sentence discussions. I like discussions that provoke my thoughts even though they are not in my interests categories.

I think that if it's part of our interest, we can say more to them.. I've really seen some discussions that are one-liner and I couldn't think of a better way to respond to it because of the information it gives.. Thanks

For myself, I generally start reading discussions that my friends started. I answer the ones that I feel I have something to add to, and then I move on to discussions from my interests. I found that by sticking to my interests, I really have more input because I can relate to the subjects. I generally don't respond to discussions that are just one sentence long, or that use alot of abbreviations. (Like 'U' for 'you' or other IM shortcuts) I feel that those are overused and this really is not the place for them. But that's just my opinion!

Yeah, I think we can share more ideas and opinions if it belongs to our interests.. we have much more idea to it and can help others learned from what we know.. :) Thanks, I understand we are entitled to our own opinion.. :)

I'm actually very selective when it comes to responding to discussions. The topic should be something that i like. Moreover i love discussions that are long.I love reading them and the threads should not be the ones that I've already responded to.

I like to respond to discussions that catch my eye and look really interesting, there are a lot to choose from so I suppose you just have to stick to the ones you know you can answer.

The main thing is the topic. I would respond if the topic interests me or the topic is familiar to me. I don't see a point of responding to a discussion just for the sake of responding. if possible. I would like to contribute positively to the discussion.

I respond the the discusions which I like or feel like responding. Not just anyone for the sake of responding and increasing the number.I go through the discussions and the topics , sometimes read the discussions and the responses and if I like discussion only then I respond. There are so many discussions that I can always chose the one of his/her liking.

So you're the type who follows your mood when responding, if you just feel like it.. Yup, if we have different purposes here then it would also be different on how we respond a topic.. Thanks..

i always respond those i have a lot to say, sometimes when i come into a discussion, and i found that i have nothing in my mind,so i leave, although it seems a waste of time (my server is always slow, sometimes dont work, especially on this site),i could pour several words and leave, but i dont want to do that after i saw the guideline:post things with quality, maybe mine is with little quality, but i just try my best. :) good luck.

The discussions I respond to first of all are my friends, then I choose topics I have an interest in or know something about, or which has happened to me.

I used to search fairly well what interests me when im browsing to respond. Of late, i was wondering if i could squeeze ideas out from my brain on things that are not choosen because i have a known reference point or opinion. To the effect i was more challenged this way. In this way one could also evaluate up to how much information you were really exposed & how much of them were retained. In this way also, my vocabulary of english will really be measured up, trying to express on topics either does not interests you or how broad or versatile can u really express on different issues or topics.
