Do you bow to authority?

Dear friends,
This may very well be the last or one of the last discussions I will start on myLot. Since I joined this community about a month back, I have made many friends and enjoyed myself tremendously.
Last night, I discovered that one of my discussions titled "Do you flaunt your faith in public?" was deleted without explanation. From what I understand, I have not violated any guidelines. Neither was it stated anywhere that religion was a taboo topic that is banned. Since I am sure that I have been very sensitive with my language, I have since messaged myLot for a reason. They have not yet replied but I will remind them in a while. If this does not work out, I guess it is good bye.
So do you bow to authority? I am finding myself stifled by this place. For all my talents and the effort, time and energy I put in, I dare say that if I leave, the loss is not mine. Since I joined, I have clocked close to 3000 responses and started tons of discussions, many of which have attracted overwhelming response. My record was 207 responses and many discussions went past the 100-response mark. Additionally, most are frequently found on today's top discussions and today's hot topics too.
If you have any last words for me, this may be the place. I may or may not post another farewell discussion if it does not work out. I have taken screen shots of my earnings so far ($57.00) and will likely print out this thread and its responses as keepsake. If this discussion that has been so diplomatically written was to be deleted too, let it be a warning to you.
For those who wish to have my email address, you can drop me a message. However, please do not take this opportunity to submit it to some spam list. :P I have to say beforehand that I will only give you my email if I remember you responding actively to my discussions. Otherwise, we have never really communicated so there would be no reason for you to need my email anyway.
May God light up our lives and shower blessings on our paths.
Sincerely,
Lord War Wizard

I cannot begin to understand why that particular discussion was deleted, other than the possiblity it was misconstrued by the powers that be, or that someone jealous of your success has pushed the button. I am shocked and surprised that this should have happened to someone whose discussions are always to popular, well-written, erudite and intelligent, witty and amusing, thought-provoking and amusing.
I really hope this will not be goodbye, hun, and I will watch and wait to see and hear what happens with you.

i hate bowing down to authority but however i see the necessity for it. unless i have the power to to deal with the authority i seldom rebel openly.
so is this your first post deleted incident? or just the first time? it would be too bad if a veteran poster like you go.

This comes as an utter shock to me!! These days, I couldn’t really devote more time to myLot and today when I thought I would answer that particular discussion (I had been attempting to respond to that since a couple of days) you have mentioned about, I could find no trace of it!! I donot know what is happening, I am perplexed and demoralized.
Lordwarwizard, it will be our loss totally for undoubtedly you have been the most consistently coherent user and one of my favorites. If I may add to the 3rd paragraph of your post, you managed 10 FULL PAGES of BEST RESPONSES!!
And ofcourse, how can I forget that you been the very first user to actually respond to my most sad post!! Trust me, mylot would not be the same without you.
Dear, wisdom lies in the way we execute in perplexed moments. Only one little wish, just wait for a while, who knows, you might get a reason for not to quit!
I really bow down and, if not worship, but certainly look upto your posts. i am immensely sad and broken and groping for words.....
sincerely

hmmm, well I'm not sure what to make of this. I think before you make any lasting decisions I would take the time to browse the religion category and see if other similar posts still exist or if the whole category itself is being "cleansed." I know that some topics are quite "hot" and "sensitive" - you know the old saying (well, maybe not! lol) ~ "avoid talking politics and religion" meaning those 2 topics are often the start of a fight or war, or lost friendships, etc.
It does concern me that a review would be deleted without at least an e-mail stating it was deleted for one reason or another. Could it be a glith in the system? You have well-attended reviews and spark alot of interest - I have not felt that you stepped on any toes in your topics or discussions. I have been missing in action the past week, and am just now getting caught up - so I unfortunately cannot read that post to see just what you said and give you my opinion on that one.
I would hope that you would not let this end your membership here - I would of course want to find out the what and why and how comes of this, but is this enough to make you feel the other 2900+ posts were all for naught? I hope you are able to find out some info about this.
My best to you no matter which way you proceed with this :o)

I know politics and religion are 2 taboo topics. However, there seems to be no publicized guidelines on this. I posted that discussion because I had a point to make - I really have no need to "resort" to such topics.
Discussions are typically deleted without sufficient reasons given. It simply does not suffice for something put together with effort to be removed with just a meaningless one-liner. This is one of the many things I feel myLot needs to work on.
And like I said, I feel really stifled by it all. I have quite a few other friends here that feel the same too, though I guess I am the first to take a step forward. It is just not my nature to meekly submit to unreasonable restrictions.

Welcome to the club. I have also had some discussions deleted for no good reason. The self appointed MLPD are out in force, hehe. As you can see by my numbers I have been here or awhile and have a good reputation. who knows what the problem was, I wouldn't let it worry you. I was kind of ticked off too when my discussion was deleted. I am not on as much as I used to be. Fooey on the sour grapes. And the answer to your question, no I do not bow down to authority, I will not bow down to no human.

Why on earth was that discussion deleted? I contributed to that one and there was absolutely nothing that contravened myLot's guidelines. I'm getting a little tired of this nonsense now. This is supposed to be a place where adults gather to discuss topics that interest us. It's becoming more and more like a playground with bullying, squabbling and discussions erased for no apparent good reason.
Actually I bet I know why it was erased - wasn't that the one with the "provocative" opening sentence? Some moron obviously didn't take the trouble to read beyond that and complained. Or there again maybe they just can't read sentences containing words of more than one syllable.
Geez what a place. So, in answer to your question I bow to authority if it's legitimately and wisely used but not when it's irrational and inconsistent and I don't like being treated like a five year old either!

Hello Stiletto,
A few weeks back, another wonderful Mylot member encountered a very similar situation. Provocative opening statement, followed by a very reasoned, non-offensive question. Hers was reported and was also removed.
I sent an e-mail to Mylot to request a review of the desision to remove. I imagine that others followed suit. When someone at Mylot physically reviewed the question, it must have become clear to them that whomever reported it as offensive was too darned lazy or fragile to read the whole question.
Because of the community requests for a reasoned review, the decision was overturned.
I share this to hopefully inspire you to send a request to the Mylot staff to review this decision. If you point out that the only explanation may be that someone failed to read the entire question, it will most likely help.
Also, if you can urge others to do the same, it will be that much more helpful.
Sorry to intrude on your response, and request this action to help Lordwarwizard. But, I believe that if we help each other here, that we'll all benefit.
Thanks so much & have a great day.

My mother's experienced the same thing. It was on religion as well.
I fear there's a rogue mod running around..I've been considering messaging mylot 'cause this could turn into a serious problem if the mod is left to his or her own devices like this for too long.
My advice is not to leave. If there's a problem at least we can all stand together..since I believe bowing to a rogue mod who's also a religious zealot would include leaving mylot altogether. The only thing to do I think is to stay, keep messaging mylot..and save copies of your discussions in the future..and REPOST them if it was deleted for no reason. This way we can possibly track the mod's behavior.
I don't bow to anyone. I respect those who earn my respect. But I refuse to give up..I'm very sorry if you do decide to leave Lord Wizard..I've quite enjoyed your discussions.
*is planning on messaging them by the end of this month, after I get paid, just in case I get deleted by the rogue mod*

I really don't think they want you to get into to much religion here. because we have people all over the world with different religions, I did post a religious topic, I will see if that gets deleted.

Marcia, there's nada in the rules that posting about religion is wrong. And besides, there are A TON of posts on religion in here. Many faaar worse than Lord Wizard's or my mother's, which did not preach or speak hatefully to or about others..which hateful and bigotted posts ARE against the rules. The entire point to mylot -- or so a majority of us believe -- is to express yourself and get paid for it. Religion is a big part of many peoples lives, so they express themselves.
Besides, the facts that the terrible posts remain and the polite ones are getting deleted tells me that we're handling one or somewhat possibly two mod(s) who's got their own personal vendetta. Seeing as a while back people were talking about their posts being deleted (of which I noticed alot having to do with religion..), THOSE posts were then in turn getting deleted. Yes, some people were being whiney. But others yet were just expressing disbelief..which should've been perfectly acceptable.
No, dearie..I believe we're dealing with a jerk or two with too much power on mylot..not mylot in itself..or management. Just a few of its employees gone bad.

I don't know how many admin/mod there are. They are all nameless anyway and it doesn't give the users much confidence when the powers are in shadows.
If there is a rogue mod, I don't know... would be terribly if you are right. :/
And users can't do anything against admins. They can remove your discussions, your responses, your earnings, your account even. You can't lift a finger to stop them..

Hi honey, you told me to post here and your wish is my command. I don't need to state my opinion as you know very well what I'm feeling. The funny thing is, if your down, I'm down too. Seems like your feelings are so contagious that I can also feel it. I'm going to miss our bantering and camaraderie we shared. It is very difficult to accept the words you wrote down here. It sounds so final. I might as well look for somebody to fool around "grin". I wish mylot will reply back to you ASAP for you have a very impatient nature in your bones. Whatever will be your final decision, you know where to holler me. "smile"

Pardon me, but didn't you say : "Bow down and worship me" in your avatar ? Well, I do but only to God for He is my Creator and Sustainer !
This comes as a great shock to me. Just as I am getting to enjoy all your quality postings and responses, you are telling us that you are leaving us. I am still looking forward to many more of your coming interesting discussions and witty replies and responses ! Your talent for writing is really undisputable. I salute and congratulate you for your excellent contributions here at myLot.
I am also looking forward for more Virtual Medals and hopefully more Best Responses. I will be very sad and disappointed to see you leaving us.
Hope you will not make such hasty decision and regret later. But if you had already made up your mind, regretfully I have no choice but to "bow down" to my Lord War Wizard's "authority" and send my best regards and wishes to all your future endeavours.
PS: Do give me your email address if you decide to leave, won't you ?

Well, the real issue here is whether you should stay on or leave.
In my humblest opinion, I think one deletion out of almost 3,000 posts = 0.03 % which is very insignificant or negligible.
I wouldn't leave if I were you because you have so many supporters here.

I am saddened to hear that you are leaving, I hope that things turn in your favor as you have had a very positive impact on Mylot, a lot of folks on here have thrived to be like Lord Wizard, to be creative enough to get the responses you have and to have the wit enough to come up with some amazing discussions...
I agree that it seems that its taboo to talk about Religion or politics, there is also alot of hatred on this site from people who are very narrow minded and cant understand, nor will even try to understand someone else's view or opinion...simply put, it all comes down to respect...I seen your discussion on flaunting faith, and I believe I replied, but then noticed that the whole discussion was deleted...there seems to be no freedom of speech anymore as some members go too many steps further, (not you), and now the guidelines have become very blurry and out of focus. Its a shame that you have to leave for these reasons, as you have had many wonderful discussions that has inspired many wonderful memories and created new ones...you have gotten people thinking and reassessing their lives for the better...
I wish you well, where ever your path leads, bowing down to authority,....sometimes we have no choice..

I hope you don't leave! Could it be the reason your discussion was deleted was because of some heated responses from posters REPLYing to your discussion? I've heard that happens. It doesn't feel good to be censored, but maybe this will open other's eyes and they will be more vigilant with their own actions on MyLot. Perhaps someone complained and if they are reading this (which they should be if they feel the need to report you) now they realize how petty they were. I do not recall all that was said in the discussion, but if you get feedback on why your topic is gone, please let us know. I have enjoyed the few weeks that I have been on your friends list.

I for one will miss your well-worded and thoughtfully organized postings...You are one of my favorites to read and I'm always challenged by your product!!! I am so sorry if this is the case..but I understand your point of view...if you feel you have not violated any of the rules and yet have had a post removed it doesn't seem fair or just. I would think that myLot would be the loser in this case...for never have I seen a "cheap" posting by you..never a one liner or a "favorite color" posting...you have added a great deal of color and humor and integrity to this site.. not to put down others, but the quality of your posts was the highest and we will all suffer that loss...I hope it works out and we get to enjoy the intriguing mind of the great LORD WAR WIZARD in the future....Good evening to you and best of luck...God Bless and be well

My goodness, this is terrible! I also responded to that thread but I didn't find it offending. Maybe there was just a mistake? I hope you won't leave though. You do have great topics. And yes I always tend to see your topics on the Hot discussion list!.
I don't know, but I don't want to think that some responder was probably envious and gave you a negative or even a (!) rate because you get so much responses. But thats possible right? I just hope not. And if it was the case, I don't know why should he/she do that kind of thing- there are other people in the top discussions as well...
I hope the administration answers your question though. take care ok.

When I saw the email notification, I hestiate to respond. I never like goodbyes and have a sort of funny feeling. I hope that by responding, I am not adding fuel to fire.
If I remember correctly, I have responded to every of your discussions after my email notifications were activated. I find it worth spending my time thinking how to respond as I find it challenging to respond to your topics. You certainly do put in effort to produce a quality discussion and I guess your efforts are not wasted from the number of responses generated.
I have also attempted the faith discussion and I certainly feel I have answered it very well and diplomatically. I must thank you for giving me the chance to do a diplomatic response. All it takes is keeping cool and calm.
I do not know how much responses that discussion generated, but I am sure this discussion would have made up for it, unless mylot delete this as well. I certainly hope not, as I am 100% sure we will not see you here anymore if the unfortunate were to happen.
Would it not be a pity to give up just beecause of one deleted discussion? Are you not bowing to some authority? Which authority are you actually bowing to should you really quit? Do re-consider.
