In India we see them everyday. Running on busy roads…riding buses..Jumping the crossings..
Their hands stretched forward….. I see them going through scrap and dirt.
And I cannot stop thinking..
Child beggars... But who is responsible for this. We all or the system.
***********************************
They work doing all odd jobs without complaining but still getting very less to support themselves and their family.
They work all day long and sometimes at night also as child laborers.
These are the children of less privileged or say non-privileged population of our society
Yes. Most of children as laborers need to earn for their entire family. They face all that hardship, abusive owner of the shop/hotel/factory, maltreatment from co-workers and sometimes-even get beating or thrashing.
But they have no way out. No one cares for them. And the so-called NGO’s are also busy working for their self.
And I am still thinking..
Can not we do something substantial for them ? Will their life be ever changed ?
Why is Govt so unmoved towards their plight ?
Please give a thought to it and share ur thoughts for the ways to eliminate this thing of national shame...THE CHILD LABOUR

What I'm seriously advocating these days are the Millennium Development Goals. These are eight (8) goals that all countries should adhere to. They serve as guides for governments to eradicate poverty, to uphold the rights of children and women, to stop AIDS etc. It would be great if all of us would stop being apathetic and get involved.

Good atleast some body in this world is left human. What i think is the basic problem some men in India still are not introuced to the benifits of education so they according to them eduaction is like just another thing say just another obstacle in the path of there earning for living, some how parenst are themselves responsible for this problem.
But what about orphans They Don't Any one called Parents!!
At this place govt. is the one who must take care of this but they are themselves busy in filling "their" "Stomachs".
for the conclusions what it basically needs is a helping hand like "each one teach one".
even I am thinking of taking some classes for some uneducated kids around in my holidays. liek this if every body takes up the task of healing the world this country will be Cured someday. I belive it.
Have faith take a step forward.

That would NEVER happen here in Canada!!! Yes, we have the less privilaged, but not what you describe. As human beings we are all the same, yet we are not treated the same. I don't understand. How can one person or a group of people let this happen to other people? You are a wonderful person for even noticing. Too many people ignore this program, and can't see beyond the ends of their own noses.

Thanks..
Every day on the way to my office at one traffic junction when ever vehicles stop ,a group of children aged between 2-4 years lineup along the footpath and dance and do various gymnastic feats, i feel so pity for them at that time that when time for them to be taken care by their own parents, how greatly those poor kids have understood that they have to support themselves at that age..

This is so pathetic that in todays world this kind of problems are growing rapidly in the world like as you say child labour, child baggers etc. In a way we the society of the world is achieving new and excited things everyday with the help of science and technology. In the other hand some unfortunate people in the same world is going towards worse in their life. This is very shameful.
To get rid of this we all have to work together. The UNO, every governoment of every country, NGOs all have to come together to help those unfortunate people. Strong economy like USA or any other country have to come forward to help those nation who is facing this kind of problem, rather than keep conituing with war.
Also don't forget to do anything in your personal level. Smal help of a person also can make a big differnce.

On the city of manila I see them on the street, when chance to talk to them who's selling me newspaper ,I ask where are your parents ? do you go to school? he stop going to school to help his sick mother to earn money for her medecine, poverty is one reason they have to work this young age instead of playing and going to school, I also learn that some of his friends he met on the street are run away from their provinces , that's why they up on the street begging ,picking up garbage , doing labor work . I later learn they are pick up by our goverment social welfare contact their parents and return to their respective provinces ,every year there are lot of street children pick up by our goverment most of them are runaway for different reason, I guess it must start from the goverment to fight the poverty , educate people those becoming a parent of responsibility for having a child, and I beleive things will improve when goverment works.

It is such a shame that countries allow this to exist. The Government should pass laws to outlaw child labour in the first place. The citizens of your country should also do their part and contribute to establish orphanages and safe houses for those children. The parents of those children should be taught simple skills so they can earn a living and let these children go to school. Only this way the cycle can be broken because if these beggar children get no schooling and learn no trade when they have children of their own the cycle will continue. You seem to be a very caring person yourself perhaps you can do your bit. If only one child is helped by you you will make a difference in the lives of many people.

It is not the problem of India only but I would say that it is more severe in India. This is the problem of the system but we are the people who are responsible for the system. At the moment the value is only for money. Unless we change this philosophy we cannot find a solution. e.g We will save electricity(in general) to reduce our bill not to reduce the wastage of energy. Once we change this mentality then maybe we find a solution.

Ofcourse it is the situation in india and i dont think it is their in any other country as far as i am concerned and their parents are the one who is responsible for that kind of things where in they could avoid that by undergoing strict rules by the government i think it is the governments fault first and they the parents they need to be stopped as they are giving free education and free food for the poor children.

The child begging and labour are mostly not voluntarily taken up by them, nor because of their poverty, but most of them are victims of the mafia which use them to make money, I know many children are caught by them and inflict would and make them disabled and throw them on streets to beg. All the money they get snatched away and they remain beggars.

This is such a sad topic, but one that should be addressed. I think government sees it everyday and are desensitized to it. Also, they have so many decisions to make it is awful to say this, but they have to choose what is most important to them. Still, child labor is a severe problem throughout the world. Big business makes money off of cheap labor in other countries. It is sad, but nothing will be done until big businesses stop taking advantage. My boyfriend was in Afghanistan and he said they are so impoverished that the children play in trash dumps and wear rags for clothes. It breaks my heart to hear those things but it makes you thank the Lord for everything we have.

I agree, it is terrible about the starving children left in India and Africa alone to defend for themselves. I blame our society and the government for this. The African government is in huge debt, and any money that they do make, will automatically be taken away (to pay of the debt) leaving no money for the government to improve their citizen's lives. I blame society because we are so caught up in our own lives, not willing to help the needy. "How do we know that the money we are given is actually being given to the poverty-struck humans of 3rd world countries?" We don't but what we do know is that although all of our money might not be going to them, most of it will. Why are we so caught up in our few dollars that we are giving away for a good cause, but not at all worried about the pair of jeans costing $120? When we know that most of these clothes we so carelessly wear, are often made in sweat shops...

I remind Charles Dickens' novels, he spoke a lot about the child labour. But he libed in the England of 1800 and now it could not be.
Children is the best age of life... I think... I say no to the children labour like a lot of people.
