My hubby's birthday is in about 3 weeks, and I know he would love a new game for the Wii if I can find a good one. So many of the ones that are out right now seem to be more for kids, I'm looking for good games the two of us can play together. We like the sports package that comes with the system, and have rented the marvel alliance one, it was pretty good. Here's what we've tried so far:
good games- Wii sports, marvel alliance
ok games- trauma ward second opinion, red steel, rampage
didn't like- sonic the hedgehog, wario smooth moves
So does anyone have any good recommendations?

If he likes sports try Madden 07, Tiger Woods Golf, SSX Blur or Rapala Trophies (fishing game). If he likes role playing/adventure games then Zelda is a must, great game! The Godfather: Blackhand edition is supposed to be decent. Also don't forget about the Virtual Console, you can download some great older games.

Hmmm, I really liked Rayman Raving Rabbids, but it is a bit more on the kiddie side. However, there is this great game where you go around shooting bunnies with plungers. You can play two player on this level and it's a ton of fun.
My boyfriend really likes Call of Duty. I'm not a big fan of shooter games myself, but you might want to check out the reviews of that one.

Actually, he's played Call of Duty on the computer a lot, so I bet he'd love that one...

Yeah, we've been renting games to try them out. The movie studio here has a good deal, it's only about $5 for a 5 day game rental, and I like to try them before we invest $50+ to buy one!

Yes, and they also have the Metal Slug anthology. I've never played that one on the wii, but that one is pretty fun if not also really silly sometimes. I think my plan for the next game I buy is to rent it first to see if I like it, and then buy it. Is that how you tried those other games?

Do you need the steering wheel for it, or does it work with the Wii remote and nunchuk? I've never been a big fan of racing games, what's it like?

I've found recently that it's easier to play the racing games without the wheel. The wheel feels strange and awkward, but just holding the remote game me a lot more maneurability.

Excite Truck does not come with a wheel. Monster 4x4 does though. The wheel is not all that good anyway. You can just use the wiimote to play the game. My daughter who is six tried the wheel and took the wiimote out of it after one race, she did not care for it either.

We just bought our Wii two weeks ago and I took a membership out at a place like Netflix that you pay a monthly fee and can play as many games as you can receive and mail back in that month. I figured this was a good way to try out games without buying them, especially since it ends up being cheaper than renting games as long as we play more than 4 of them in a month, which I'm sure we will.
We tried out Need for Speed: Carbon and really didn't like it. Next up is Raymans Raving Rabbids, which I've heard endless good feedback for!
We are hoping to find a good racing game, as we both love racing games!
