Forest Gump is actually based on a book. Author is Winston Groom if I remember correctly.
He actually wrote a sequel to the original so it is very likely that the movie is real. However, without Tom Hanks, I really pity the poor guy who has to replace him. Hanks is irreplaceable :D

i am not sure about the author but i remember back in 1997, i have read this sequel. if i'm not mistaken, the title is gump & co. (or something like that).
forrest jr will grow up and become a very intelligent kid. forrest gump will again involve in a mix up that lead to a historic event such as operation desert storm (and captured saddam) and tearing down the berlin wall. forrest at some stage ventured into oyster business.
to me, based on the book, it will make a good sequel. it has the same feeling of the first movie.

It definately won't be the same without the main character. This is so stupid. Why does Hollywood insist on ruining good movie memories will sill remakes?

Without the main character you could basically kiss the movie goodbye for the most part. Its just with Home Alone 3. Without the Mccully Colgin together with the two villians the movie wasn't as funny as the first two.
