Now this is a very tough one and the only ones which comes to my mind are three individuals or maybe more then three. Mathew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakara or Brian Charles Lara and if you check the bowling Department i would say the best candidate is Shane Bond

I presume it will be only Matthew Hayden. Matthew Lawrence Hayden (born 29 October 1971 in Kingaroy, Queensland) is an Australian and Queensland cricketer. He is a powerful and aggressive left hand opening batsman, known for his ability to score quickly at both Test and one day levels. He is particularly proficient when hitting down the ground. He also walks down the wicket to fast bowlers in one day cricket in order to hit over the top. He formed one of the most fearsome opening partnerships in world cricket for Australia with Justin Langer. Hayden currently holds the records for the highest scores made by an Australian batsman in both the Test (380) and One Day International (181 not out) arenas. On February 20th 2007, Matthew Hayden posted his highest ODI score (181 not out) against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Australia posted 346 for 5 wickets and New Zealand replied with 350 for 9 wickets and won the Chappel-Hadlee series 3-0. This innings means that Hayden now holds the highest score by an Australian in both tests and one day internationals. On March 24th 2007, at the 2007 Cricket World Cup, Hayden scored the fastest World Cup century against South Africa in just 66 balls. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis awarded Hayden with honorary citizenship after the match.

I feel that Ricky Pointing is leading the team very well and also been performing very good, he is playing like a very good captain and if he continous with his good form, then he has a very good chance of being man of the match for this world cup.

According to my opinion Australian Ricky Ponting will be the man of series of World Cup 2007. He has played well against South Africa and my hope is that he will play better in remaining matches.
