Which would win in a confrontation -- a cat or a squirrel?

We have a lot of squirrels in our backyard and our cat, who is about 3 years old and weighs 10 pounds, loves chasing them. Several times she has come close to catching them, and it has made me wonder what would happen if she did. Would the squirrel be stronger than the cat?

I think the cat would win. Aren't squirrels in the rat family? With a cat's claws and teeth my money would be on the cat!

You are probably right, but those little squirrels look like they have pretty sharp teeth, too.
