Does Anyone Else Think Survivor Has Gotten Boring?

I just think last few seasons of Survivor have just been so forgettable. I watch because I'm in a Survivor betting pool with friends, but usually I end up kind of tuning out. But I don't think they've really had an interesting season since Rupert was on the show. How about you? Do you think the concept has maxed out? I mean, there's only so much they can do with that same basic concept of having people survive as best they can with few amenities before it starts to seem repetitive. Or is it maybe that people who are on the show are more savvy than in previous seasons? They don't want to get kicked off, so they are less likely to display a more colorful or strong personality for fear of being kicked off. I think that may be at least part of it. The people just seem so bland these days. Tell me what you think.

I still enjoy watching it each week and look forward to it, but I will agree it has gone down hil a bit recently. The last two (including the current one) haven't been that great. I also agree that everyone is too game savvy and if someone is far out there or interesting they don't last to long. Plus when one tribe loses all the time I find it drags me down and is depressing.

Yeah, I agree with all that. Plus, when one tribe gets on a losing streak, they tend to keep losing, due to morale and sometimes not being as well fed or having as good of accommodations as the winning tribe. So that takes some of the suspense out of it--you know who will keep winning.

Actually, I think it has become more exciting. Because people have a better understanding of what they are doing and how to survive. They are getting more maniacle and starting the allies way early in the show. There have been some memorable personalities for me and they are Yul Kwon, Kao Boi, Shawn (I think that was his name, the Tommy Lee look alike a few season back). I know I said memorable but don't remember his name, but it wasn't his name that I remember, it was his craziness. Like when he was using the flat rock as a Blackberry. lol

The guy with the blackberry rock's name was Shane. I liked him at first , then he really started getting weird.

Actually, Kao Boi was one of the more interesting ones, this is true. I did like how last season had so much diversity among the participants.

He really got weird but it was funny to me. I liked watching him and wondering what in the world would set him off next. I also kept thinking, "Oh, he's going to be the next one voted off, he's crazy. How can they put up with him?" But he just kept staying until finally, I don't think they could have taken him any longer.

I get bored ust hearing about it!! I tend to avoid reality shows like the plague. If I want reality I'll go out and live it, as opposed to watching it on TV.

I usually don't watch reality shows either. Survivor is about the only one I watch at this point, and that's just because I am in a betting pool with friends.

I still love Survivor! My favorite this year was Rocky- And he is gone- He was lively- He added friction- People don't like those who stir things up a bit-- Check out other posts here- Rocky si gone- yehaww.. lol My all time fave so far has been Rob- Boston Rob-- He was great! He told you like it was! Gotta love it- I think they are changing it up each season- This year they have luxury island and survivor island.. This is different- They also have 2 hidden immunity idols. I love how Yao Man made another one and hid it- I can't wait to see how it plays out!

I did love the part about Yao Man making and hiding another immunity idol--that should make things interesting! My favorite character of all time is still Rupert. They do try to add different twists, but they aren't always ones that I think add a lot to the show. I guess one of the problems with it, in my opinion, is just what you're saying. People don't like people who stir things up, so they tend to get rid of them, but those people are the most interesting to watch.

I think it got boring during the australian one, or ws it theafrican one, not sure which was first. However, those reality shows suck in the uneducated Americans wo have no chance of ever doinganything exciting, and want to live vicariously through television. i think you will find that the people who are fscinated by it are also the ones addicted to some soap opera.

Wow, talk about uneducated. Sorry that we don't excite you that much. But before I talk bad about a person for what they are watching and start calling them uneducated you could take some grammar and spelling lessons.

Yes, I have more education than I will ever possibly be able to pay off in my lifetime, and although I've become a bit bored with Survivor of late, I have watched it for several seasons.

I think season 2 and 4 were good. I think the others afterwards up until last season and the one before were boring. In fact, the season before (Survivor 12 Exhile Islands) last was so tension filled, I felt uncomfortable watching it. Do you remember that season with Horace and Terry? Wow, was that a season to remember. And least season (Survivor 13 Cook Islands) really was outwit, outplay, and outlast. Survivor has its ups and downs but it always comes back with something to hook the viewers; I would agree this season is somewhat boring at least the people are. However, I think with the two idols that should make the show very interesting....

Yes, the two idols should make it more interesting. The show does kind of have its ups and downs. I do vaguely remember the one with Horace and Terry, assuming I am thinking of the right one. I guess the ones I like the best are ones where someone I really want to root for stands out to me, as with Rupert. I also really liked Stephanie, the one who was left by herself for awhile when all her team members were voted off and then the one right before her lost a challenge to her. I loved it that she came back the next season.
