Congratulations on being best employee of the year. Speaking can be really nerve wracking because you want to follow through with the nomnation just given, and to effective in your speach. Before you start talking, think about you your audience will be. Will they be managment, other employees, etc? What type of function will you be speaking at, will it be at work? Or somewhere formal?
Once you know your audience, you can now come up with some appropriate topic about how you got to be best employee, your feelings about it, the value of it, and how you plan on using it. Becareful that out of nerves you don't tell any jokes, and or ice breaker comments which could be offensive to your audience. However, you do want it to be memorable and interesting. So do try to start off with a bang and with an interesting subject and or opening.
Because you have the advantage of this being for an achievemnt, you will be able to add your personal experiences to your speech. This alone will help give you soething to talk about. Plus you want to put the focus on yourself, as you deserve it. Remember not to get to carried away, and start using big words. Big words will lose the intent of your speech, and will change the flavor if you keep throwing in them.
Lastely, enjoy this special event. It is a great honor, and all the best in your speack. Keep me posted as to how it went.
