Picture This...?

Not me for sure. I want an avatar to fit my username. It is not that fitting if I use my own picture since this username is of a more mystical nature. And yes, strangers can be very fearsome. :P

I use my own picture as my avatar, though it has been altered a little bit. (Mostly, the alteration was so I could have purple sunglasses that I can't lose... long story.) I like having my real picture as my avatar, and I like seeing other peoples' real pictures, because that helps me get to know them a little better.

When I first joined mylot I did use my own picture as my avatar. But after some rude people and their rude comments about certain things I decided it was safer to be anonymous and my picture hidden so people could judge me not by my looks but for how I truly am.

Interesting question.. I myself didnt post any pictures or close up of my face since i find it more comfortable with using an abtract or some pictures. But you know what? A friend of mine's mylot account was hacked and she had $59.78 in one month's activities.. She asked for help to her friends in mylot to contact the admin. And do you know what she used to prove that it was the real her? Her avatar was her real picture and she uploaded more pictures to her new mylot account. So the admin verified that it was really her and that her account was really hacked. So she received her earnings a month after the incident. So sometimes, using our own picture is an advantage,. :)

nope. as you can see, my avatar is the real me. no disguise business here. i want to show who i really am and not hide from other's face. i just love playing a disguise in actual life and not in any online community. strangers, i think they won't harm unless i got into their tongue. ha ha!

No, I don't fear strangers. And yes, I'm quite ok with my own image. But not using my own picture gives me the (maybe false) sensation of being safe. So I can talk openly about any type of subject. It might be silly, but that's how I feel!

My avatar is myself, plus hubby and grandbaby.It needs to be updated, but I will probably always include a view of me.It is just the way I am.

i have my family photograph for an avatar. i have received feed that it is not good to do that since that will be exposing us to some kind of danger. now, i am considering changing it with something else.

My avatar is actually that of me and my youngest child on a summer day trip up to the gold country where we spent the day with the family gold panning. I'm not concerned with strangers seeing my picture. Especially when it's not a close up. I wish that more members used actual pictures just that I could put a face with the name and personality. Although I respect others decision to use other avatars. I really dislike the green ones that mylot gives and which that everyone would stop using those all together. :)

My avatar is a recent picture of my daughters and myself. I highly doubt someone is going to be able to find me. I am more in fear of some of the people that already live here in town.

When I first joined here, I used another photo of myself. I just updated my picture today to another one of me. It is always nice to put a pic with a name. Why are you not using your photo?

Hi,jazzafrazz!! You see my avatar is not my real profile.But I have uploaded my real picuture on here so that I think if other Mylotters want to see a real me,they cen enjoy my photo.I'm not weird whether strangers will criticize my profile.But I think you're right,everyone here should take care of strangers.

Maybe half. I don'y use my own picture, for confidentiality. But the picture reflects the person who i am.

I am not agree with you that we don`t show our pics as an avatar because in fear of strangers..... I think avatar is an idea, a logic and expression, it shows or thinking so all of us they use avatar is express himself, his feelings and etc. may be i am wrong but it is my thinking.... are u agree...????

I'm not keen on using my own picture as an avatar because I don't like how I look on pictures very much, but lately I decided that I should be happy with how I am and let people know me better. About the fear of strangers, I think that it's ok to show pictures of yourself as long as the pictures doesn't contain elements that can give an ill-intentioned person clues as where you live or the places you frequent. But that's just my opinion.
