I just want to share with you guys this story... My ten-year old daughter came home from school and had this artwork framed in a 5"x7" picture frame with her drawing of me and her. This is what it says: Mother,"comfort, love"-kind, helpful, trustworthy, idol, guide, bestfriend, playmate, scolds me with love. This last phrase struck me, I thought scolding her in the past gave negative effects on her. But when i read this, I was glad knowing that whenever I scolded her, she understood that this is for her own good. I never thought she could think of a phrase like this... this made me proud knowing that I'm in the right track when it comes to discipline. And my explanations of my disciplinary actions made her understand...I displayed this frame in our living room..

Awww that is too adorable. I love it when kids do things like that. It really makes us as parents wake up and realise that we are not the failures we make ourselves out to be.
My 8yr old daughter did a similar thing but it was a story not a picture and th e part of the story I remember the most is when she wrote and I quote "When my mommy grounds me or takes something away from me, it does hurt but I know that it is because she loves me and she is teaching me to behave. I love her more for that."
When I went to school for a parent teacher confrence her story was taped to the wall with the others from her class and I started crying. Her teacher came out to let me know I could go i and she said to me that she almost cried when she read it too.
At that moment all I could do was give my daughter a hug and tell her that I loved her too. Just thinking about it now makes me want to cry again.

Hi, magikrose!... I know how it feels, having received something like this from our children. Makes us proud to me mothers. Thanks for sharing your story. It helps us realise that being a mother is not easy but rewarding and inspiring.
