Things seem to be going from bad to worse at the moment. Now it's my car lol.I have been running my poor car with a blown head gasket for a while now,as I can't afford to get it repaired. It's really a hassle as it constantly over heats on me.I have to plan my trips in advance as I have to give the car time to cool down before I make the return trip.As it over heats all the time I of course can't go far in it.I think my car has just about had enough.I think it's going to bite the dust.It now blows smoke as well.I just hope it holds on just a bit longer as I am getting a new car any day now,as my ex owes me child support and I told him to use it to get me a decent car.Wish me luck! lol

Good luck, I hope your ex does get you a car. I got a new car in May of 2006 and by March, they dealer told us, we needed a new motor. (my car was recalled) now the problem is still there and we are trying to have the car "lemon law". I don't think it is fair for me to pay thousand's of dollars for a new car and it messes up and to solve the problem the dealer put's in a refurbished motor.

Cars grrrrr. can be such a pain when they start to show signs of not being reliable! My last one was similar and was always topping it up with water until one day cruising along the highway with my daughter in the car and I heard an almighty bang! Drivers passing me were pointing to something and as I was starting to panic I saw what I thought was "smoke" coming out from under the bonnet was indeed "steam". That was the final straw for my poor car and it was never the same again. Good luck ausnikki and hope you get a reliable one that does not cause you grief!

Sounds like it is definately on the way out and possible well gone by now. Hope that your ex came up with the child support and you could get a new car, as it sounds as thought this one has had the richard, so to speak. We had an old one like that but knew it was getting on in years and needed a reliable one, so luckily found one from a young bloke who was going overseas. It was at a good price, in not too bad condition and we could get the things we wanted for it without too much expense.
Then someone offered to buy our old one, and we said how much we wanted. We told him it might have some problems due to the age although it had been going well for us. Showed him all the work dockets for what had been done. He haggled a bit but then agreed to what we wanted, so it was a done deal. Then a couple of weeks later he phoned to say it was a dud and he wanted his money back. We found out the problems and were about to give him copies of all the work dockets and receipts when we were told he had been doing burn-outs in it.
If you don't have a new car by now, check before you buy. We got a good buy, we sold our old one on the basis that it was okay but old, and some ratbag kid went dragging in it. Then he must have had some dodgy repairs and sold it to someone else a few weeks later. So, take care you don't end up with a dodgy car like the one we sold.

Oh wow that is very dangerous for you to drive your car with a blown head gasget, as we did this a couple of years ago. Of course you cannot go far in your cat with it doing this. I do wish you luck and I hope that your ex buys you another car in the next couple of days.

I was telling the truth lol :P

Blimey .. you really are risking things running a car with a blown headgasket .. it could finally let go at any moment and then that's it .. you'll chug to a stop and be at the mercy of whoever else is around to help you get it off the road and to get to some safe public transport or whatever ..
I can only hope you get your new car asap ...

Thank you missytia,I think my car really did bite the dust today. When I got it home it was blowing a lot of smoke.I have been told I may have cooked the engine.I really hope I get the car too,but it seems the owner is now causing problems even though my ex has already paid some of the money for the car.It would be nice if something finally went right lol

My Commodore will be 24 this year. She's had a miss for some time now and it's getting steadily worse. She's been needing a new head gasket for about the last 6 years or so and she 's still a good ole girl inspite of her troubles. She's not worth much as a car but she's sure got some dollars in her parts. The brake master cylinder, water pump, and radiator were all new about 5 years ago. She's got 5 great tyres, new passenger side head and tail light assemblies, and much more besides. I've given her to a good friend who needed a car and he has just re-registered her.
I was lucky enough to score my Dad's Astra when he lost his license. It was 9 years old and had only done 27000klms then. Lucky me. It's my favourite colour too....champagne. LOL.
