Is it important to fill the tag box alloted for the tag line?

I am just wondering if it is necessary for me to put something on the box alloted for the tag? If I dont put something on it, is this can affect my supposed to be earnings when I post a discussion or a comment?

Its not important but its a good thing to give tags to discussions.If you give tags then any body searching the discussions using that tag word as keyword can easily find your discussion.

Not actually but it will be useful if you want your discussions to appear on the similar discussions area located below each discussion page. It's like assigning keywords to your topic so that others may search and find it.
