What songs did you sing as a child?

My kids LOVED to sing and listen to kid songs when they were growing up. I grew up singing camp songs and such. Yet today it seems the parents have no clue about the benefits of singing and teaching the kids through song!
What were some of the songs you learned as a kid?
I recall the obvious London Bridge and Brother John, etc. but some of the less known ones: a scouting song about the Cannibal King with the big nose ring, Baby Bumble Bee (I'm squishing up my baby bumble bee... lol) and some others.

OMG I can name so many songs, and my son loves to sing and he is very smart too because it usually only takes about 2 or 3 times for him to hear a song and he has most of the words...so i have to be careful what i play in the car. But as i kid I loved to sing baby bumble bee song, down by the bay where the watermelons grow...love that song, and do your ears hang low.

Of course London Bridge! Jack and Jill, Three Blind Mice, Itsy Bitsy Spider, to name a few.

I remember Baby Bumble song...hehe I don't even know where I learned that one.
But I think Brother John, London Bridge, Patty Cake, The Wheels on the Bus are the songs that I can remember really singing when I was younger.
Cute topic by the way!!

I loved singing camp songs as a kid. As far as the nursery rhymes go, most kids don't know them and it's a shame. Nursery rhymes and the songs that go with them teach kids language patterns and rhyme. They help kids learn how to read.

It is so long ago that I can hardly remember. I sang Brother John in French - Frere Jacques and I Know an Old Woman who Swallowed a Fly along with many others. I had never heard of Baby Bumble Bee until I asked my grandaughter to sing a song for me and she sang that one. It just goes to show, that some of the old songs will never be forgotten. They will be handed down to generations to come.
