I know there are several of you out there suffering with this disease. Those who don't have it may know somebody who does. I was diagnosed with it in 1997 and pretty much kept it under control until this year. I lost my job in July and with it went my health insurance. I was prescribed a drug called Humira, an injection given to yourself twice a month. I also took Celebrex and Plaquenil. With my health insurance the Humira was only $40. Now, to buy it without insurance, it cost $1445.00 a month. That is way beyond my ability to pay. The other two drugs are also expensive so I find myself losing my ability to walk due to my knees. My knuckles are beginning to swell up pretty badly. I just wish everyone could understand that this is why we need a national health care program in this country. I am not lazy, be the longer I was off work the more dibilitating the disease became. I don't know what to do. Even if I apply for disability, it is a two year wait to get on Medicare.
