What do you do when you are stuck in Traffic?

From time to time you will hear me talk about my commute to and from work. Sometimes there can be some interesting things that happen at the worst time. Rush Hour Traffic!!!
I get off at 5:00 and here around the Washington DC area, the traffic can be just horrific and bless my soul if there is a accident...
Today on my way home from work, I got caught up in traffic, literally eight minutes away from my house, which ended up taking about 35 minutes...But, when I start seeing those red lights, I already know what lies ahead. I normally first check the traffic station to find out if there are any accidents on my route, (traffic report ever seven minutes, gotta love it) then I proceed to either turn up my music or talk on the phone (I have a earpiece)..lol
So far with living here in this area, the longest it ever took to get home was 3 1/2 hours. I live about 40 minutes from work on a normal day...Go figure, it was a holiday..lol
What do you do when you are stuck in traffic? What was the worst traffic back up you have been in? Or are you one of those lucky ones that never get caught up in traffic?

Oh joy! I find this most boring. Yes, I have been stuck in traffic, rush hour after work. Crazy.
It takes 40 mins otherwise but three hours later, I am finally out of it and free sailing on my way home.
I usually file my nails when I am sitting in traffic, check out the radio stations, clean the glove box and/or munch on something if I have something to eat.
If it is sunny out, then it isn't so bad. I love the sunshine. If it is raining it is a bit more annoying. The heater works great in the car so that's nice but after a long day, I am at risk of falling asleep with the heater blaring, lol.
Not fun. I can't help but think of all the things I want to get done when I finally do get home, thinking what a waste of time this is!
Happy Trails.

I am so happy that I no longer have to deal with traffic jams.It use to take me 3 hours to get home when it would normally only take 30 minutes. Now I live in a small town where if a traffic jam happens its because there is a parade in town .LOL

Yes, I'm one of those who seldom get caught in a traffic jam. There are not so many vehicles to and fro to work from the area where I am staying now.
Anyhow, I worked in a city before. The jam or rather jams were horrible. I usually turned on the radio or CDs. Sometimes, I even managed to read a full page of the magezine before the jam eased.
Sometimes, it would be SMS-ing to friends or love ones ...... what else could we do?

Yeah I know, I find myself doing that now. Especially if it's stop and go stop and go. I wish more streets were made

I've been caught in traffic but not many times. If I do get caught in traffic though then I'll turn up the radio and sing to myself. LOL I work from home though so it is not very often that I get caught in traffic. But sometimes I do if I take the interstate to go to the mall or if I have to go into the next city (big city) for something.

I don't do ANYTHING in traffic. There is not much to do. I listen to the radio, I guess, and sometimes talk on my cellphone using an earphone thingy. I live 30 minutes away from my school (during normal time) but I happen to have to go to and from school during rush hours most days... and if there's an accident or any road construction, forget it! I hate traffic. I wish I owned a helicopter.

I seethe when I get caught in traffic. I now live in a small town and there should never be a reason for a traffic jam, but we do have them. I lived in a larger city and was use to the traffic and it really didn't bother me so much. Now it drives me crazy, because I should be able to go anywhere within 15 minutes.

I get caught up in traffic pretty often and that's when I question myself if bikes are better than cars coz you can always find your way easily when you are on bikes.Well, I let a friend drive and I get busy with my mobile, lol Mean ? Nah .If I stay at the steering then I might constantly blow the horns and add to the mayhem ,lol. So, I just lose myself in the virtual world till it clears up and before I know we are home.
