i have a cyst in the legs!

i have this cyst in my legs, just above the knees on the middle side. i had this since i was little, elementary perhaps was the first time i noticed something lumpy in my legs.. it remained to be unnoticed til just know, i noticed that it get somewhat larger and it STARTS TO ITCH! im terrified about it, and im more terrified about the thought of getting myself operated.. what do you think this is??? and is it bad when a cyst starts to get itchy for no reason at all???
