My mom works in the cafeteria of the school my children go to. My son which is in Kindergarden is one of the last classes to eat lunch. Mom says that by the time his class gets there they are running out of food and have compelety run out of some things. So they get less lunch. I have a problem with this. I have to pay $1.75 for those lunches and I think my son should get as much and the same thing as everyone else. Also the other day a little boy came thru my mom's line and he didn' have any lunch money and already had a charge on his account from another day so they were gonna take that little boys lunch away from him. But my mom stepped in and paid for the kids lunch. My state just got into the lottery this past summer. The money is supposed to go to the schools. So since July they have made millions of dollars and are not gonna feed a child because he doesn't have $1.75. Does anyone else think this is totally messed up?

That is a tough situation. Of course children should get food. You should talk about this to your government officials and community leaders, and perhaps write a letter to your local newspaper.

Now that is awful! My daughters school allows 3 charges and when they get to that many they send a note home to let the parent know that there isn't any money left on the account! Whoever is in charge in that lunchroom needs to plan better obviously if they are running out they need to get more of those things so that they don't run out!

I think that is horrible. If they can't afford to keep enough food out there for the children then why are they charging full price? I think that you should DEFINITLY take this up with the school board, mayor, and whoever else you can contact. If that was my child I would be sooo mad. I sure hope that you can get this issue resolved. Your mothers a good person for that, thank god for wonderful people like her.

when i was younger i think some teachers created a emergency system where parents left extra money to them in case the child didnt have his/her lunch money... wonder if this could work at most schools.?.

To tell you the truth here in Greece the system is worst. If a kid doesn't have money, doesn't eat. Of course they are at school from 8:30 in the morning till 2:00 in the midday. It's much time and the parents that have problem with money, they give the children lunch from home. I think your mother has a great heart. And I think you became to seem like her. I hop your son will be too. I hope for the best.

When I used to forget my lunch money they would just put it on my account that I didnt pay. And send a letter home to my parents of the balance we would have to pay by the end of the year.

My gosh thats not right...I live in canada, and here all the children go to lunch at the same time...also for kids who don't have much at home, the schools have a breakfast program were the children go to school and are feed a whole breakfast, as much as their tummys can handle, all for nothing. And At lunch time, its the same if a child can't have or didn't have a lunch it is provided free of charge. It is there way of helping the children living in poverty eat, but everyone is welcome to go. I feel bad for the children in your area, it seems the schools are not doing what they should be doing. Sometimes I am so glad I live in canada, while other issues like lack of jobs, makes me want to leave

The school my children goes to gives all the kindergardeners breakfast free of charge but only the kindergardeners. What Canada is doing is great. made the should give our schools some lessons. Thanks for the reply
