Everyone has those foods that they crave when they are needing comfort and feeling stressed or upset..those foods that remind you of something in your childhood or someone like your mom or grandmother who made them for you when you were sick or sad.. for me, I always say mine is mashed potatos or mac and cheese..but I think it depends on my mood and what I'm trying to get through that determines what I crave..sometimes I want fresh baked chocolate chip cookies..sometimes chocolate cake or ice cream.. or chocolate pudding with lots of whipped cream..and sometimes its macaroni salad..and sometimes.. like just now with the 2 hot, gooey, yummy, cheesy grilled cheese sammiches I just polished off. Something about a nice grilled cheese sammich that can make life seem all better...some people love tomato soup with theirs..and I agree that is really yummy..but I tend to like ramen noodles with mine. How about you? what's your comfort food(s) and how do you prefer to eat it? Do you crave starchy, sweet, salty, fruity..what comforts you?

Egg sandwiches. My Mum always made my Dad egg sandwiches very early on a Monday morning when he was leaving to spend a week working in another city. I would get up early to say goodbye and my Mum would give me a warm egg sandwich with lot of salt. I also remember days out to Southampton docks when we would sit in the car in the pouring rain looking out on the grey sea, not a ship in sight eating egg sandwiches. With hindsight, perhaps we always had egg because it was fairly economical. However, I still love egg sandwiches. My tastes have matured a bit, I prefer granary bread to the processed white bread of my youth and I like mayonaisse rather than the bright, yellow butter my Dad always insisted on. Definitely my comfort food.

I'm with you...it depends on my mood whether I want something sweet or salty, but mostly it's anything connected with cheese- cheese fries are on top of the list - lasagna, cheeseburger, mac & cheese. The other food that does it for me is peanut butter - peanut butter vanilla ice cream...yum!

I have two... Chocolates and ice cream. But most of the time it's chocolates. No wonder I'm a bit on the heavy side :)

ohh my, thanks! now you got me craving a home cooked meal. Comfort food to me, is homemade mac and cheese! Yum! And Meatloaf and mashed potatoes! That sounds so good, I think I will have to make it for dinner tonight. Last night we had grilled cheese, with tomato soup! That was really good!
