HELP: what laptop should i buy?

I'm going to study abroad so i need a laptop I don't know what to buy,Apple Macbook or IBM or SONY or...??? please give me some advice THX!

MY dad told me that IBM is good but i think MAC is more beautiful... someone told me that MAC is not so popular like other PCs Is that true?

i think you can buy IBM if you afford it .Of course other computer types have their good qualities .
