re: difficulty in commenting and sub-commenting due to the length..

You made a very valid point. I want to point out yet another point. If you put yourself in the shoes of that discussion poster, it is quite a nightmare to find a new response to his discussions too. Imagine this discussion has 15 pages, someone commented on his comment on page 2.. so he started from the last page, thinking it should be near the end... to his horror, he only find the comment on page 2. Thinking himself smart to start from the back, he has actually been a fool. Well, I was in that scenario quite a few times. :P

I do agree with you on this one. I never had this problem until I started responding to very popular discussions. I also never went back to my responses in the beginning. I just commented and went on to the next discussion. Then one day I decided to check out my best responses I had received. It is great the discussion name is on that page, but when I would go to find the actually response I made there was no way for me to find my response without reading almost every page. I am hoping this may be one of the enhancements MyLot is saying we will receive this week. I have requested a way for us to find our particular responses when we go back to a discussion. I think MyLot will do this if enough of us request the desire to have this. I will send another request after the enhancements are revealed and see if we can get something like you are suggesting.

I have faced problems while subcommenting to comments on my replies ,too.I am usually on during the night when my internet speed goes down considerably and it becomes difficult going to every single page to check my response.At times, I have tried to add the page number to the url and check ,but even that isn't very convenient.It would help if we get notifications when someone comments on our responses and we can switch off the option for the ones we don't intend to be notified.Mylot has announced some enhancements to come shortly.Let's hope notification of comments to our responses is one of them.;-)

oh yes i really know what you mean mimpi i have the same problem and i wish mylot would do somthing about it there are discussions that i give up on because of that problem

yeah i find that it is really hard to track down where your response is so i made a simple solution to my own personal dillema. basically, when i search for topics to respond to, i will look at the number of responses in that topic, if it's less than 10, good... if it's between 10-20, still fine... more than that, i rarely respond to the topic with very long thread, unless it's really very interesting to me. i also like to visit my responses and check the comments others may have added to it. so if it's a long thread... it's also a long search. i experienced starting a topic 2 days ago and now it has gone to more than 100 responses. i would like to add a comment to each of the responses but it is simply a lot of effort. also, another dillema i face is choosing the best response. until now, i'm only halfway thru reading the responses and probably only 20% i added some comments. when i choose the best response i have to remember my favorite responses as well, which unfortunately belong in different pages. :) it would certainly make the task of searching your responses if there's a way to hyperlink it not only to the discussion (as currently practiced in mylot) but also to your specific response in that discussion. yeah, you have a good idea going there... :)

Hi mimpi! It is one of my problem too. Especially as a newbie, I like to come back and check if the poster had any comment made about my response. And also it makes you know if you said something wrong or if they appreciated it. I hope mylot will find a way to make it easier, like you said to hyperlink it. For the moment, I notice that the last person to reply has his/her name shown beside last reponse. If I see that someone else has answered, especially the poster. That's the time I dig in to search if he/she has left a comment. I usually have a hard time to locate myself in LordWarWizard's pages. (^^,LOL^^,) I got lost sometimes. (^^,) Have a nice day!!

I often feel llike that, I like to check in case my friendhas replied to my comments. but if there are 6 pages of replies I often cannot find mine and have been known not to try. I would love to just know which page my reply is on.

I have the same problem in going back to find my responses or to look for a specific comment when there are pages of responses. I too wish there was a way to Id or mark the comment/response that you'd like to find ~ it would make it so much easier and save a lot of time spent just searching from page to page. I keep hoping this will be a positive change that MyLot will be making in their upgrades.

I agree, it is difficult to trace your own response in many of the discussions. It takes lot of our time to see where our response lies and whether the member who started it has commented upon it or not? I would request mylot to device some method to highlight our response serial number and if you come across any solution, please let me know.

i totally agree with you, but being a computer programmer, i understand the complexity of implementing something like this. even though it seems simple on the surface, it will take time to actually create and test. perhaps it will be in the new version of mylot that's coming out some time soon?
