Hi, hermanica! I would like to congratulate you on your choice of course! Medicine is a very fulfilling vocation, BUT only to those who really like it enought to be able to pursue it to the end, because, believe me, it really is not easy. I can't give you tips on taking the NMAT because I took mine about 17 years ago (just shows my age). Primary thing to have to do is to FOCUS. All the subjects are tough, although being a PT grad, you'll have the edge in Anatomy, which is one of the toughest First Year subjects. I'm not sure which school you are going to, but if it's UST, there was a perk that you'll get exempted from the final exam if you got an average of 85 in that particular subject. That is, if they haven't changed the rules yet. So, it pays to keep your grades high. Make your studies your priority. But do take the time to unwind, even if it's just once a week, because you don't want to burn out too fast. Secondly, remember that you go into medicine because you want to cure the sick, you want to serve....You don't go into Medicine because you want to earn, because, believe me, you won't, not for a long time anyway. At the time you are studying Medicine, your batchmates in high school are already taking their first steps in the corporate ladder so by the time you finish Medicine and start to practice, a lot of them have already purchased their first car (or second) from their income. The fact that many of our countrymen doctors have chosen to leave the country as nurses is testament to that fact. I survived Medicine without joining any sororities so I could say that you don't really need to. Try to enjoy the trip. There will be experiences that 10, 20 years down the road, you will look back on and just laugh. Take it one step at a time. Don't be too overwhelmed at the start. Just get through your NMAT and your entrance exams first. Then your interview. When you get accepted, try to get through it one semester at a time. Don't get too discouraged if you encounter failures. Because you will, in your long journey to becoming a doctor. Try to learn from those failures, they will make you a better doctor. But try to minimize failures to begin with by reading, observing and practising. I'm sure you'll make a fine doctor, as long as you have the HEART to be one. There are many people needing your services in the future. I welcome you in advance to our noble profession. Good luck!

Let's put it this way...it's harder than college. Don't get discouraged, though. We got through it, and so could you. I graduated from UST. :) DLSU is a good school. Of course, it's more convenient if it's closer to where you live.

i m glad u r interested in medicine. To be honest i cnt help u much in term of your NMAT as i didnt have to sit for that during my early years of studies. i have always wanted to be a doctor since i was small... but i was not so intelligent also during my school days... my grade was horrid to think of... but i managed to enrolled into so called 'A level' programme before was accepted to a medic faculty. What ethanmama said is true... failures seems like a middle name of almost every students... well.. dont be discourage... it is tough but rewarding... if u totally put your heart into it... u'll love it... i can assure u that. Dont be discouraged by the working hours of internship too... well ... u hardly have time to rest at all... u r working even on saturday and sunday...sweetheart? u may have to put a side for some time :D Gosh.... the more i typed, the more i m terrifying u right? huhuhu Just trust me when i say it is very rewarding... go for it :D
