What if your son or daughter failed the first year of college or university Would you keep paying?
Would you make them work to help put themselves through college or university?
My older and only brother went to university. Thanks to my parents (coulnd't afford to send me)He failed his first year The next year he droped back to college and went back My parents paid he didn't have to work to get his education
Myself I told all my sons The first year you fail is the last year we pay They also had to save their money to cover the cost of living expenses and any extras they wanted (ie party and go out)
Was I wrong or were my parents right?
I sent myself tp college after having 3 sons Youngest in diapers Not right

When I consulted my heart, it says yes, I will. I am willing to go such lengths to see them through with the best I can give. But if the cause of their failing has been due to being irresponsible, possibly thinking that their parents are there anyway to back them up in cases of failures coming, I'd surely tell my child to go find work and support himself through college. That will teach my child a good lesson in life. He learns how difficult it is to find money and how expensive it is to be sending someone to college. Thus, he will learn to value all the financial support that I am extending him.

I guess I should have clarified the fact that I made sons work all summer to earn the exta cash to spend. I didn't force them to work while they wwere attending college
Sorry for misinterpratation (sp??)
I feel they should try to learn to be self sufficient and budget for expenses
thanks for responding

its good way to make your kids understand how important it is to pass the exams but on the long run it would put unwanted pressure on the kids and then if they really fail the exams and you do wat you say then things might change his career path.
