Hi y'all! in this thread perhaps i wish to ask those who have traditionally made rice as the most important part of their everyday meal/s. what if you move to another location where rice is not readily available? how long do you think you can last staying there without rice in your everyday meal? or do you think you can easily adjust to not eating rice? what about the other way around? i mean what if this time you plan to take rice off your meal. maybe i would also like to ask if will there be benefits of not eating rice. what would you feel if you are in this situation?

i am much of a rice lover. i always love it whenever i am having my meals each day. i will be migrating to sweden soon to be with my boyfriend. my boyfriend does not love rice before but when he came over to meet me, he tried it and get used to it somehow. and we talked about it and he promised that i can have rice everyday of my life in sweden since there's a place we can buy it per kilo there. i'm just glad i can have rice even in other countries.

I don't know if I can live without it. I eat it every meal, from breakfast through dinner. I've tried bread but it doesn't satisfy my hunger pangs. I loose my appetite too whenever we have a fantastic viand or "ulam" and I could not partner it with rice. I think I have truly a Filipino taste buds, I even like my soup with a couple of spoonful of rice in it. I know that it makes the abdomen rather heavy looking but I can cut down on it, maybe half a cup every meal but not entirely eliminate it from my menu.

If there's no rice, I can go for bread, pasta, potatoes, etc. Once in a while, I can go without rice in my meal but I have never been put in a situation that I can no longer eat rice at all. If that happens, maybe I can still manage without it. There are other sources of food that can give you the carbohydrates and energy you get from rice.

i have rice on all of my meals and it would be very difficult for me to have a meal without it. but if the circumstances requires me not to take rice then ill just have to live with it. i'll just have to find a substitute for it like have fruit drinks or chocolate every meal instead of just water to compensate for the loss of rice

As part of my diet plan a few years back, I didn't eat rice for 6 months. I shed off the tummy "love handles" as a result. In fact, just a month of rice-deprivation made me look thinner already. It also made me feel lighter. Anyway, if you plan on taking rice off your meals, just be sure you have other "lighter" carbo sources. I think if I move somewhere, especially in a non-Asian country, I could live without eating rice everyday. But I'm sure my stomach would crave for it occasionally. :-)

I'm not really sure if I can live without eating rice. I mean I was eating rice since I was born. Ok, not really, but as far as I remember, rice has always been a part of our meals. I mean, if you're asian, then you know we can't live without eating rice. I eat rice with everything, except maybe pizza but other than that, I have a plate of rice and another plate of whatever meat or chicken or fish. Although, I don't eat as much rice as before, I still cook rice everyday and I guess that's something I'll always live with.
