Do you give your child an allowance? Do you just give it to them? Or do you make them earn it or do chores for it? I used to post a list of weekly chores to be done at home They had to check off what they completed before I would give them an allowance Had one son that took him 3 months to realize he wasn't getting something for nothing. Hence he started to do part of chores LOL Cruel I don't think so I also made them save part, put a bit the collection plate at church and do what they wanted with the rest Wendy

Yes, I do give my 2 kids money to spend for fare in bus/ jeepney/ mrt and for their food when they go to school. They dont want to bring along food in the school being teenagers now, one in college and one in secondary school, (they did bringing food at school when they were still in grade school). So now I give them money for their lunch and snacks at the school and fare. The money I give them during school days is just enough. However they save some amount if they don't spend for snacks, that is, when the class is shortened to halfday. I give them the allowance or money even if they dont do house chores. However, when they achieve something, like doing good in school or getting high marks or rating, I give them extra money or something as a reward.

My son is 5 and has an award chart, Once he gets 15 stickers then he receives $1 , It's works great, cause if he's feeling lazy then he doesn't get any allowance.

Well I don't give an allowance exactly, I do however have a system where when my daughter does a chore without being asked or generally behaves she gets a marble in a jar, when all the marbles are in the jar we go to the dollar store and she picks out what she wants. When she is old enough I will convert each marble into a cash value for doing chores and such and that will determine her allowance for the week.
