"Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the anti-christ-he denies the father and the son. No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the father also. See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the son and in the Father. And this is what he promised us-even eternal life." 1 John 2:22-25 So, is it possible then to believe in God, but not Jesus as a Savior?

There are many people in this world who are not Christians but have strong religious beliefs and believe in God. They do not believe in Jesus because he is not a part of their religion.

I am a Buddhist and in Buddhism there is no word of God, no sin just the teachings of the Buddha. It is the only religion I know of that has never spilled a drop of blood trying to force it's beliefs on others. Needless to say, I do not think the Bible is the word of God.

Yes, I believe that it is definately possible to believe in God, but not in Jesus as the Savior. I'll explain why I believe this... First, many people believe in God ~ one almighty God who created the heavens and the earth. Those same people don't necessarily believe that the Christian Bible is the word of God. For instance, Gandhi did believe (he is quoted as such) that there was only one God. He also believed that God created the earth, the heavens, and every living thing. BUT, he did not believe that the Bible was an accurate work of God, and he did not believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God. Second, Jewish people believe in the same God that Christians believe in. The believe that the Old Testement is infact the word of God. But, they do not believe that Jesus was the son of God. They do not believe that Jesus was the Savior that they do believe will come. Some people believe in God/the creator because they feel it. They know it for themselves, and they have faith in it. But, they don't believe that the Bible is accurate because of so many years worth of translation. OR, they don't believe that the Bible is accurate because of any other reason. Whatever the reason, they do still believe in God, without necessarily believing in Jesus Christ as the Savior. To sum up ~ why do I believe it is definately possible to believe in God without believing in Jesus? Because I see people who do. I know people who do. Even the passage you're quoting from the Bible above doesn't say (to me) that you have to believe in Jesus in order to believe in God. It says that if you don't believe in Jesus, the Father will not acknowledge you. If that is your belief ~ that's fine. But, it doesn't mean that you can't BELIEVE in God without believing in Jesus. It means that God won't necessarily grant you a spot in Heaven if you don't believe in his Son. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for sharing, Stacy. This passage alone is a good test for people to apply to any other religion they are curious about. Very few admit the diety of Jesus.

If you believe the bible in which I do, jesus said in John 16: 21. that they all may be one, as Thou, Father, art in Me and I in Thee, that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that Thou hast sent Me. Also in john 14: 7.If ye had known Me, ye should have known My Father also; and from henceforth ye know Him, and have seen Him." 8. Philip said unto Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us." 9. Jesus said unto him, "Have I been so long a time with you, and yet hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then,`Show us the Father'? 10. Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak unto you I speak not of Myself; but the Father that dwelleth in Me, He doeth the works. 11. Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me; or else believe Me for the very works' sake. With these words how can you believe in God and not Jesus? They are one but different bodies. Like an egg has 3 part so the the God trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

It is very possible to believe in God, but not in Jesus as a saviour. If you don't believe in Jesus as the saviour, then no matter what the Bible says, you don't believe in it, right or wrong. However, you can believe in god and choose to believe that Jesus was not his son.

That's the thing. You do believe in his word. You don't belive the Bible is his word, if you DID, then it would not be possible to believe in God and not Jesus as his saviour.
