Do you prefer to be called a Christian or a Christ Follower?

I prefer Christ Follower as the term Christian is loosely used. I follow Christ so therefore I call myself a Christian. The term Christian is used in reference to going to a "christian" church. Some people call themself a Christian even if they only darken a church door once a year. I believe there is a difference.

How interesting; I've never heard the term Christ Follower here in the UK.
I call msyelf a Christian, as I attempt to follow the teachings of Christ in my day to day life and in my worship. I'm not what people would call a regular Church-goer. I go to my local Church probably once a month, not counting festivals, and probably pop in to the Cathedral in my city twice a month or so.
But I would still regard myself as a Christian.

I look at relaives who got baptized as infants, never go to churc, never pray, never give anyting to Jesus and they consider themselves Christians. This is why I am aChrist Follower as I follow Him closely.
Glad to hear from you!
Blessings...

Cookie--This is why some start using the term Christ follower according to what I was told.---to many people that never go to Chruch--and maybe never or only a few times in childhood still consider themselves a Christian even if they aren't walking with Christ.

yes i agree with u christian and christ follower have a big diference. id like to be calle too a christ follower for we follow what jesus christ wants us to do while we are living in this earth. as a chhildren of God we must follow his son the one who became flesh here on earth and dwelt among us to teach us a good news and to follow it and apply it on our lives. well amen for that discussion of u..

I perfer Christian but I did some master's work--took a class on Islam. I understand in some Islamic countries a follower of Christ has a more positive response as Christian doesn't have a good feeling surrounding it. I guess they feel that Christians are fake and want things.

The term "christian" is very loosely used and actually back in the first century was used to criticize those who followed Christ. I prefer follower of Christ or follower of the New Testament. I do use "christian" but I usually expand with my beleifs right after.
You can call yourself a Christian all you want, but if you're not following God the way He expects you to, then it's not going to do any good.
