Whyare only the high numbers getting alot of responses?

I've noticed that the people who have been here with the high amount of responses they've given are the ones that are getting lots of replies, over 50 mark and it's not really just quality discussion, some are just one line questions.I know it may be alot from their friend's list but c/mon this is bad here.How are ya supposed to get anywhere.

well ive been here for five months now and i never get many of my discussions into very high numbers. I must addmit im still searching for the ultimate discussion topic but mine tend to grind to a half around the 15 responses level. The reason i generally get even these responses is because i have an active friends network and they do respond

Wow pretty good for only five months. 15 sounds better than 2 or 3, though i do appreciate them.Thanks for answering.

I was told it takes a while to build up your responses but i havent managed as high as most manage, never really understood why
