Over the last 20 years I have been addicted to musicals and just love seeing live performances. Recently there have been a number of big scale Film productions of stage musicals - Phantom, Rent, Evita to name but a few. Whilst I have gone out and seen these movies in the cinema and have added them to my DVD collection, I still think that nothing beats a live performance. So which do you think is best, seeing something on stage or on screen?

I want to watch both in screen and live. But sometimes, I prefer watching live because there, you can really see the actual persons acting. But what I like in watching through screen is, sometimes, you can see the different perspectives of the play, unlike in theater, you only have one perspective and it depends on where you sit.

I saw Little Shop of Horrors on stage a couple weeks ago. Ive not seen many shows but this was fantastic and even though I loved the film, Id say it was so much better on the stage

I would much rather see anything on stage than on film. My favorite theatre to movie musical was "A Chorus Line" from back in the 80's. And of course, Grease. Since then I've actually been less than impressed with the movie adaption of most musicals.
