Does it matter if I get a Male or a Female dog??

I'm wondering because I have a Female Shih-tzu she is almost 2 years old, and I'm wanting to get another dog, but I'm confused about getting a male or a female. what are the pro's and con's of either? when I have another dog in the house? Do you think she will acustomed to it fast?

If you are getting the dog spayed or neutered, it shouldn't really matter. But, if you're not, then definitely get another female dog. More likely, either way, you current dog will consider herself an "alpha female".
