My son has wanted to be a paleontologist since he was just a little tyke. I would like to be able to take him on an actual dinosaur dig so he can get a feel for what to expect. He is currently eleven and is already talking about wanting to leave school. I am hoping to use myLot earnings to fund a trip to a dig, which might encourage him to try harder in school.
How would you encourage him?

Have him research more on this career. Maybe have him talk to a pro that does this already to spark more interest. Yes, take him to a real job site if you can, and the museums with dinos in them. Make sure that the person you have tell him about his job says that things he learned in school helps him everyday to do his job. It's important for kids to see that what they are learning will help them in the future and that it's not futile.

Thank you for responding 2Bugerboys. I have bought him nonfiction books about paleontology, paleontologists, dinosaurs and he just loves them. I keep trying to tell him about why he needs English, spelling, and math but he just won't listen to me. That is why I am hoping to get him out on an actual dig. That way he would be able to talk to the professional. Maybe in a year or so I can get about half the cost from myLot, which would make it a whole lot more doable.
