Out of all the characters that Joss has created, (in the is am including characters from Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Fray....) who is your all time favorite, and why?
I think for me, I might have to say Buffy. While there are many other characters I love, if I had to choose just one, I would go with Buffy. I really admire her strength, and conviction. She is such a positive role model for young women, and while not always perfect, she takes responsibility for her actions and does her best to make things right. Not to mention she has a great sense of humor :-)

I have to pick just one? This isn't fair. It's way too hard! I know, I will pick one man and one woman to even things out.
Buffy is my favorite female. She's smart and funny, a real fighter, but she manages to still keep her femininity and her friends. I agree, she is a great role model. She is in no way perfect, but she works to fix her mistakes and is often willing to admit when she is wrong. She is also a really great and loyal friend.
Mal Reynolds is my favorite male. Aside from the huge crush I have on him, I like how he is both loving of his crew, but also stand-off-ish at times. He is really loyal and clever, but he also has enough of a past to make him interesting. He's another one of Joss's great heroes who comes through when you need him, but is also sometimes wrong...though unlike Buffy, Mal is less likely to admit it. I feel like Mal is the glue that brought the crew of Serenity together and that deep down inside, he still has a lot of hope for the world. Like Buffy, I find him really likeable and inspiring.

Mal is a great character. He really cares for his crew and loves them like family. Once you are part of the crew there isn't anything he wouldn't do. I love how he has that squishy side of him but hates to admit it....for example, the ending of "Safe":
Simon: Captain, why did you come back for us?
Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Yah but you don't even like me. Why'd you come back?
Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talkin 'bout this?
Aww.....Mal....
I think my favorite male character is Xander. Even though he can be such a jerk sometimes...he's loyal to the end. He may complain, and see himself as only a carpenter, but he's always willing to help out and put himself in harms way.
I love the scene in "Potential" when he tells Dawn, "They'll never know how tough it is, Dawnie, to be the one who isn't chosen. To live so near to the spotlight and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes because nobody's watching me. I saw you last night. I see you working here today. You're not special. You're extraordinary."
I such a cheeseball I swear it makes me cry everytime I see it!

For me I think it's a little bit of both. Nathan Fillion is a hilarious guy. He has a myspace page and writes some great blogs.
I'm looking forward to Drive actually. And it's alwyas nice to see some of the crew in any capacity.

Well, the actor is the face, but my crush is more on the character. Nathan Fillion is a pretty goofy guy, but I'm a sucker for Mal's heroics. ^_^

Just one character? Oh, it's so tough to choose, because I love so many of them for so many different reasons.
I guess I'd have to choose Buffy, because she was the first character that introduced me to the wonderful world of Joss, and all his amazing characters. She was always one of the strongest female characters on TV at that time, or any time. She always stood up for what she believed was right.
I don't even think I came close to explaining why I love Buffy so much, but I tried my best. :)

I know what you mean! It's so hard to put into words. I never feel I do justice to how important a character Buffy is to me.

Absolutely. I've always had trouble putting into words why exactly I loved the series, and, trust me, I've been asked a lot of times before. At one of my old job, though, there was this guy that always came in, and he had daughters my age and older, but he loved the show, too, and not just because of Buffy's body, or whatever. He got it, and we'd always talk about it. It's hard to describe it unless that other person gets where you're coming from, and even then it's hard.

I don't think I could ever pick a favorite. It would probably be someone from Firefly, though I really liked Spike and was glad that he showed up in Angel. The problem is that Joss's characters are all so completely different that I like each one for their different qualities.

Good point. Each character is lieable in their own way. Even some of the villians are oddly likeable because they are clever, or just impressively smart. Or sometimes they are just interesting because they are so evil, like Warren.

I know! Even as I was posting this question I could barely make a decision myself. The characters are so varied, and yet I feel like each one relates to a part of me.

Here I am to revive a super old and tragically neglected discussion
My favorite favorite is Willow. But I feel bad not mentioning Angel, Lindsey and Lorne. Lindsey toward the end of Angel....at the beginning he was kind of a tool. LOL I kind of went rounds with my friends....before there was Team Edward and Team Jacob there was Team Angel and Team Spike and all of my friends were on Team Spike and I was all alone on Team Angel.

I love Buffy, but I the intriguing characteristics of River Tam in Serenity/ Firefly is quite interesting.
Well, I liked the fight scene in the movie when she alone slaughtered those reavers.
