Has anyone ever faced the embarrassment of being somewhere like a university classroom or place of worship and your cell phone going off with an odd ring tone? It's never happened to me because I don't have a ringtone on my cell phone, and I usually have my phone on vibrate, but I had a friend who was in class and a rap song went off and everyone, including the teacher, laughed. So, share your embarrassing cell phone stories or those of a friend or a time when you were just ticked because an inappropriate ringtone went off.

When I was in varsity, we were not allowed to carry our cellphones into the lecture halls. There was a lecture I remember well as the lecturer was a strict fellow. Before he entered the hall, someone reminded us to turn off our cells.
Just as the lecturer was going to start his lesson, the phone rang. It blasted away some rock n roll music, and that was very loud! There were microphones on our lecture tables! Nobody moved, and the noise was almost unbearable!
The lecturer then said, "Answer it, somebody!" But nobody moved. "Answer it and I won't punish you!"
The assistant lecturer picked his mobile and turned it off immediately. We did not see him in class since then!

LOL. Funny story. I bet the assistant was given a strict talking to after class. I don't know why professors are so strict, sometimes people just forget. If it's a large lecture hall, I say just quickly excuse yourself and answer it, or if you don't want to do that, just see who it is and then ignore the call. But still, funny story.

I'm living most of my life now at the university and there is no respect form the student about this matter. They just use loud and strange ringtones, even though they are warned about turning off the cellphone. I use the vibration function, and I don't use any ringtone. Its better this way since I don't get embarrassed.

Yeah, cell phones go off all the time in places like universities. Most students have such little regard for their professors, that's why. Just curious, are you from America?

actually, i always make my handphone only vibrate mode and set the volume as mute. but in one day i forgot to make it muted, so there it was. I was in a meeting with my friends, suddenly there is a handphone's ringtone, just like nokia's default ringtone, everybody looking out their handphone but not i'm because i thought mine was muted, but after all check them out, but none of them is ringing , i figured out mine , and that's was right, mine was ringing.
