Anime is japanese cartoons made more for adults/teens than children. They are more action filled. They have more adult themes. I guess you could say they are similar, but not the same.

I don't want to insult you, so I will put this a kindly as I can. That statement is amaizingly false. There is anime for very young girls, and there is anime for middle aged perverts. You are right that most anime that makes it out of Japan, is intended more for an older audiance, but look at things like pokemon.
No insult intended, if I did insult you. I can't realy tell anymore. You made no mistake. It's just a small amountof missinformation.

i c, thx!!!i got it! so basically anime is more form of reality human form and it's from japan, and cartoon is just general, so u could say anime is one of cartoon's catagory, right? but i have another question, is it only from Japan called anime? can other country make the cartoon have the same style of japanese anime call anime?

Ya. Anime could be considered a subcaigory of cartoon. Cartoons are the broad term, and Anime defines the style.
The second part, I can't answer because I realy don't know. I have heard people call american cartoons, with the same style as japanese anime, being refered to as anime, but I don't know weather that is right or not.
