When responding to discussions, do you just post your answer or do you take time

to read everyone elses responses? I do a little of both. It all depends on the question and I admit, how many responses there are already. I honestly have so little time on here that I don't have time to read all the responses before putting my 2 cents worth in. There are some, though, that I will...how about you?

I don't read the responses that much, maybe the first few but I do read the first statement. I also think about the questions that are asked and when I respond, I try to make my response as long as possible. However, I'm not that good compared to people who write hundreds of words per discussion response. The textbox where you put your response makes your response look longer than it actually is. And if the question asked is a very simple one, I just answer it without thinking much.

As I respond from my email notifications it takes me straight to the response box so I dont read the other responses first. I find that I may be influenced by what has already been said. I do read them once my response has been posted and if some one else's response is similar to mine then so be it.

I try to read all the posts, but today I've been the first to post on many discussions. So, if it's a particularly interesting discussion, I will go back and read the responses that follow.

It really depends on the question they are asking e.g. they talk about a problem they have and would like some advice...then i often read what others have to say first as sometimes what I have thought would be a good response has already been said...however, if I don't have much time then I just respond regardless. Its really up to the person who posted the discussion to take note of it.

Usually, the discussions I choose are those that I have interest on or tickled my interest. They are moments I can easily post my responce because I have experience on this matter or know someone who did. But, I usually take my time, I try to make my response as informative as possible.

For me it depends on the subject and whether I can learn from the replies already there if it is important or interests me. A lot of posts you don't need to read all the replies but others, especially in areas that I have to cope with everyday - like special needs it is worth it to me just incase I find a fantastic new strategy that works. I suppose that goes for all of us in different areas.

i pick out the topics that i find really interesting and topics that i can relate to. then i take the time to write my replies. then i take the time to read the discussions and compare notes and see how a lot of people agree or disagree with my point of view. i think that's the whole purpose of having discussions here at mylot anyway.

Im like you in that it depends on how i am going time wise, and how many responses there are to a particular discussion i normally read the first page or 2, but sometimes there are over 100 responses and thats not including all the comments left to the responses so it would take all day to read them all

I will usually respond to the original poster prior to reading the other discussions because I like to give my point of view without being swayed by someone else's thoughts on here.
I will then usually read through at least 1 page of discussions and see if there is anything I think I can comment on as well however usually I like to just respond to the main person because that is the point of them asking, is to get everyone personal opinion not just unique ones.

I takes my time..I usually try to go through the whole discussion if its not that long one..If its long,I just read the headings and the last few lines to understand what the author wants us to reply to?Then I take some time to think for a good response and then I post it..

So do I. If I have a lot time, I would take my time to read all the response and if I haven't much time, I would read a few first response (like I did now), but if I don't have time, I would just post my answer or even I wouldn't open this web :P

I do take time to read other's responses..that are before me so that I don't repeat the same thing..Sometimes, however, there are so many responses on a thread that it's very hard to keep up with every response on a forum..:)+

I usually read the first few on the front page, then I will post my reply, and then depending on how many other replies there are I will go back and read some of the other replies.
Sometimes I dont even end up posting at all, if the person is asking fro advice on something and they already have a whole heap of answers telling them roughly the same thing that I would have posted then I don't usually bother to post :)
I sometimes get frustrated if I start a post asking a question and it gets resolved fairly quickly, then you still get people repeating the same answers over and over, it's just so obvious that they haven't read any of the other replies

i just usually hit the respond to this discussion button from my email, then after i posted my answer i will skim through the other responses. i guess sometimes i should just read the responses first, but i am pressed for time or i get to excited that i just want to leave my opinion sometimes.

I don't usually read the other replies, unless they are really of interest to me. Usually, when I'm posting here, I'm also doing something else at the same time, like doing homework or watching the Padres game, so I have no time to do too much reading on these forums. Not to mention, I don't reply to any of the replies either, just the original post of the thread, so there's no real need to read the replies.
