I'd like to hear what everyone thinks is an interesting book topic, I'm trying to become a writer someday and i'd like to know what the public wants to read. Let me know what thrills you and what makes you yearn to read.

What do you like to read? If you're going to write, it's best to write the types of stories you like to read.
Okay, I'll answer your question. What I love to read are stories that have a universality to them. For instance, stories about ordinary people who do extraordinary things. I don't necessarily mean extraordinary as in discovering a new element or something so grand. Extraordinary as in how the person reacts in a conflict. Authors I admire are: Anne Tyler, Joyce Carol Oates, Elizabeth Berg, Ernest Hemingway, Raymond Carver.

Thank you for your response, your very proper with you're answer. I like to read mysteries, and stories that are fictional. I like to read Patricia Cornwell, Stephen King, John Saul, and James Patterson. I like the idea of ordinary people doing extraordinary things, like being the hero. Maybe a man rescueing a drowing child, when the man cannot swim? Overcomming fears to do the extraordinary, and help someone or something. I will go ahead and take a look, thank you very much for inviting me.

I, too like mysteries. Have you tried writing any mysteries? If you're interested in mystery short stories, I recommend Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. Bigger bookstores usually supply them. You will likely find other mystery magazines there as well. I've always wanted to write a short mystery, but my premise is usually too long to fit into a short story. I wish you the best.
