I have been wonder.. We, moslem have a tradition among the community to memorize the Qur'an. That tradition keep Qur'an safe from any little mistake that sometime happens while the Qur'an is reproduced or being added by human. Theres a lot of people here in Indonesia who can memorize a whole Qur'an, we also have an annual competition between our chldren to measure their ability in memorizing Qur'an (Both Arabic and it mean in Indonesian). I wonder if there is a same tradition among Christian people? Do Christian people memorize their Bible?

Wow, I have never heard of people needing to memorize the bible. I'm sure that there are many people who have, but not because they had to. Some people just think the bible is important enough to memorize. I've also never heard of a competiton for children who have memorized the bible. To me it seems that the entire bible would take a very very long time to memorize. I'm not sure how big the Qur'an is but the bible is very big. It is easy to memorize a small part that means alot to you, and I think that this is what most people do.

Maybe you should take a look for a Qur'an in your country. Moslem see Qur'an as their way of life, not only the wise book to make you wisdom. Therefore, it is vital to make Qur'an as purest as it come for the first time 1400 years ago. Thats why Qur'an is memorized, so any disturbance in reprint or any kind of opinion that being rewriten in the Qur'an will be quickly known. Qur'an in this entire universe is same, not similar. Thats why moslem have the same view of the way they life. Ignoring Qur'an and obey the religion leader is sometime fatal, becouse the leader is sometime act based on their personal opinion. Thats why in islam, there is no "god representation", like the POPE in Christianity
