who do you think is qualified as one of the world's top 3 guitarists?
i'd pick eric clapton, he has the ability to mingle w/ other musicians from different music genres and shift his style from one genre to another-- regardless if it's jazz, reggae, rock, amd especially blues.
i'd also pick ritchie blackmore and joe satriani.

I made my mind already:
1. Eric Clapton - He is my greatest influence. Come to think of it people, he has a chameleon like ability from Cream Days up to now he established himself and he never goes out of style. He made me feel that this is the destiny I want to take and I thank God for giving us a music god. :)
2. George Harrison - Yeah Yeah Yeah he is a Beatle and best friend of the blues god. He plays the guitar like it is an extension of his body. He's rich in his spirituality that gives him freedom without thinking on what he wants to do. In his famous words "See all with out looking, Do all without doing....".
3. Stevie Ray Vaughan - The open channel of blues. He can give you the sound you want from him. He plays through the heart and you can say his face shows the effects of his music to his life and to his fans. Honest and sincere musician. The Best Man on the Job.
TOP 3 Choices of the Angelo Franchesco Ocampo, Top 4. Hey man! Only Top 3????? :)

1. John Frusicante of red Hot Chili Peppers - he imbues his sound with so much color!
2. Jimmy Herring of Widespread panic - the most precise and one of the fastest lead guitarists I've ever seen
3. BB King - the Godfather!

I know not much about guitarists, so i will be basing my choice on those of whom I've listened their music to.
Paul Gilbert
Carlos Santana and
Slash
Not that old, but I like listening to the music and melodies they make while playing their guitars. There are lots more, of course, and you've already picked one of my top faves, Joe Satriani!;)

Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi. Without these people to blaze the trail, there wouldn't be any other awesome guitar players whom we idolize today.

Jimi Hendrix is the best. He was the god of guitar that no one else was. He revolutionized what the electric guitar was, and what it could do. Heck, he played solos with his teeth. He could play rhythm and lead parts simultaneously. Jimi made the stratocaster the best selling guitar of all time. He rose alongside Eric Clapton, as the greatest guitarist of the world.

This is an interesting topic...
These are my choices:
Top 3: Eric Clapton - He's good in acoustic.
Top 2: Darius Semana of Parokya Ni Edgar - He's good in making catchy solos.
My Top 1 will definitely be:
Billie Joe Armstrong of Greenday - Some people say he sucks in playing guitar because he mostly use power chords for their songs and no solos. But for me, he's the best because he knows what's best for their songs and he knows his craft and handles it very well. I think those people who criticized them before were really pissed because Greenday is now one of the most richest rock band in the world! A salute to Greenday!
