i bet some of us here smoke. i do. so why do people keep on smoking despite its fatal consequence?
for me it serves as an outlet especially when i'm stressed out and bored. somehow it relaxes me in a way and helps me compose myself.
why do you smoke? and for the lucky ex-smokers, i'd like to know how you were able to quit the habit?

I do smoke, and have been for around 12 years now (i'm 28yo)
I started to "be cool", as a lot of us smokers. When you are young it helps to get accepted, to be part of a group... it's supposed to look manly too.
I think you can't quit even knowing that it isnt good because the addiction is here, and it's a powerful one, especially the psychologic addiction (the physical one isn't too hard to overcome). It always strikes me to see doctors smoking for example. You would think they are the ones who know the best how bad it is for health... so why do they smoke?
To try quitting, I would suggest you to try the Alen Carr method. He wrote a book that doesn't cost a lot. check it on amazon.com or such. It's called 'The easy way to stop smoking'.
Some friends of mine could quit with this method. It doesn't work everytime, but it is the best method I've heard of. When I quit (cos I will) it will be this method I'll use.
Hope it can help you
