Do You Think Ratings By Higher Reputation Members carry more Weightage?

Friends I was just thinking that since the myLot rating system considers so many things for member rankings and reputation,it must be then having different weightages for ratings by members with different reputations or Star rankings. What I want to say that if a member with a star ranking of say 9 rates you positive and another member with a star ranking of 7 rates you positive then the value of member with 9 star ranking will value more and also benifit you more than the rating given by 7 star ranking member. Well I don't know whether myLot uses weightage system in ratings.Have you got any idea? What do you think?

Bhangra - Among Indian folk dance one famous folk dance is Punjabi folk dance "Bhangra".
I am not sure about the affect of the rating of member with high star or low star rating. I have not read this anywhere on Mylot yet. But I think if Mylot think taht the members holding high stars like 9 and 10 have really some good quality then they should get priority in the time when they rate other people. Definitely the higher star rating holders have something good on them than others, so while rating also they should be more effective.

Well As the higher rating or reputation memebers are considered to post quality contents then it can be assumed that while deciding the rating they will apply the same quality management as they apply to their responses and hence can be given more weightage.Though it may not always be true. Well for the photo , yes it is totally a mismatch with the discussion , It was also difficult for me to choose a photo for this discussion then I choose a weighing balance relating to the term weightage.

None of us know for certain what criteria are used by Mylot, although I would doubt that such a system could be realistic. It would be unreasonable to assume that my opinion of your discussion or response was more valid than that of a new member. It would also create a situation whereby 10 members give you a positive rating and you lose the credit because 5 members disagree, which is not very democratic. I sincerely hope that Mylot have the good sense to value the opinion of all members equally.

We don't know what myLot do while deciding ratings or anything else, but we are only guessing. Yes in weightage condition any rating by a higher member can nullify many opposite ratings by lower reputation or new members.

It is possible. Most of mylot members don't know eactly how the earning was calculated. If higher level member give plus rating to your post, it is a big chance that you can get more earning. Why? because mylot appreciate good quality post. Member with high star are member who post a lot of good posts.

Yes I also think so, as myLot has built such a comlicated rating system that it must have given weightage to the ratings of members according to the reputation/star rankings.

Hey there!;) Well, I think this depends upon those of whom we responded to. If they do have higher star reputation but doesn't give us the ratings or doesn't even bother to rate us, then I think it's useless. It is also important to rate the topics, for us to know if we already have made a previous response to some of it. It would be easy for us to browse around other member's topics, to avoid an accidental double-posting and of the time we consume whenever we open other's discussions. The most important thing to do is to rate responsibly, no matter how high the reputation a member has. If both of the requirements are met, then there's a high probabilty of getting an increase on both our reputations and ratings.

Yes a higher reputation memeber can also sometimes rate wrongly and it is our duty to rate responsibly as it could affect the other persons reputation or also earnings if myLot takes reputation in deciding the payout rate.

You make 2 very valid points here raijin. It is important to give a rating to the posts that deserve one, and also very important to rate responsibly in order to give due credit to the right people. Everyone would agree with you on thses points, but I wonder how many actually do this.

Hi I never thinked like this about the discussions on mylot but your question is very interesting and I have started thinking about it. I really think that ratings by higher reputation members will carry more weightage and I really hope they rate me with + . The community members are really so helpful here and by reading the disucssions I came to know about so many things which I can never understand by simply reading the guidelines.
