would you have a problem putting your personal picture in the avatar..?

For me, I prefer to keep my online and offline life separate. It is the same me through and through but still each "life" is a bit different. If I put my real picture here (which is extremely pleasing, I can assure you lol), it will blur the area in between and I might fall into some identity crisis. :P I would only place my real photo on the net if I am e.g. parading my resume or when I am the face behind a business that requires real credibility and accountability. myLot is a chat playground... it certainly does not fulfill my criterion for putting a real photo here.

As you can see, my avatar is my picture. I think that it represents me. As I keep posting and getting more involved in the myLot community, I would probably uploadt some more pictures in the my photos section or in my posts. It depends on how much you wish to expose yourself, and how original you are at expressing yourself - like you do... It is not always that someone fears to expose himself - it sometimes that people think that some image represents the real them more than their own picture.

WHy not? But it is better if I see my kid's picture as an avatar. I will be more comfortably seeing my baby's picture everyday in mylot that's why. It's not a matter of being afraid who you are it is a matter of what choice you want to express what you really want.

I wouldn't hav a problem with putting my picture in the avatar. However, I happen to think our little girl is rather cute. That is why I use her. Her photo tends to lead me to other husky owners which is a good thing. For people that eally want to see me there is always my profile. I can aways add one.

The world wide web is not a safe net. It is filled with scams, deceptions, frauds, half-truths, lies etc. Of course, on the other side of the coin, there are also quality content, honest and realiable people etc. The challenge is to find the right sources. That is why there are safety precautions/applications on the internet such as authentications, identity verifications through user ID & passwords, encryptions, SSL Certificates, double opt-in, secured websites (e.g. https://www.abc.com), biometric technologies etc. Therefore for safety and security reasons, I think it is better not to put one's personal photo in the avatar. PS: I like your avatar very much as it shows a beautiful rainbow across a scenic landscape. :-)

Well when I first started Mylot I did have my own picture as avatar..but as I settled in here and started posting they were some rude people on here that liked to judge people by their looks and not their discussions so I took the picture off as I am sure a few others have because I was not the only one who was jugded either by their looks. It was just a few but I don't like being called ugly or made fun of just because someone else doesn't think I am pretty enough. I haven't had a avatar pic up since of myself. This way I am judged for the me and what I am inside not the outside..

well putting your own picture on the avatar isin't a good thought because creating an avatar expresses your thoughts and your imagination about what you to make yourself look like.Like i have a normal haircut normally but in my avatar i has styled it as spiked cause that is what i really like to me. Another problem is that when you are chatting to some one do you know how pretty he/her is? You just imagine from his thoughts that what should he/she be looking like isint't it. If everyones putting there own pic in avatar then i will not talk to you and you will not talk to me because i think that you are prettier than me and you think that i am prettier than you isin't it?.

Yeah, I know what ya mean. I use the photo of my evil twin--oh, wait, I'm not a twin, that must be me. Dunno what I was thinking...

I've already used my own personal photo in the avatar already and will go back and change this non-personal one to a new personal one in April. There's nothing wrong with it and its nice to have a picture attached to the words of its owner once in awhile. We humans ARE visual creatures!

Hi liranlgo!(",) Obviously, I didn't have any problem of using my very own photo as my avatar. Why? I really didn't have a concrete reason but for me personally, I got nothing to hide. What you see is what you get. I don't want to play mysterious or somekind of abstract thing. I have no identity or position to protect and my online personality is just the way I am in real life. Though,I have nothing against those who uses other photos because somehow they are cool and nice to look at especially those moving ones. So, what does that rainbow really mean to you? Hmm..I guess, you have a colorful personality. Did you know that rainbow is a promise from God which gives us hope and a new beginning.(",) I don't have a separate identity and I wanted to show the world that I do exists and I'm proud of who I am. Well done liranlgo, I strongly believe that if you are serious in what you doing and what you want, than there is no fear to hide our identity. Having our pic also shows that we will take the discussion seriously.. To you I can just say a very big WELL DONE!

i have always used my real picture. i have nothing to hide, and in fact i like for people i talk to to know what i look like. i have an easier time talking to someone if i know what they look like. i think it makes things more personal. =]

as you can see, i have my own avatar... i am proud of who i am.. maybe people place other pictures because they don't have pictures of their selves, lol. or maybe, they just love to place other pictures instead of their own pictures.

I don't feel comfortable putting my ugly mug on my avatar - however i've created a contradiction because I have a few pics of myself in my photos section! I guess what i'm trying to say is that I prefer to express myself via my artwork and not my physical features. Bit deep for this time of the day lol!!!

I really dont have any problem with putting my own picture as avatar I just love this photo so this is the one I put. I have just change this a couple of days ago but usually i put my own photos. I think some may have some issues or too shy to post there own photo. For me I will like it more if they will put there own so I can have an image of them everytime i responseto there discussion.

I wouldn't want to put my personal picture for several reasons. First, I don't feel comfortable letting people see me, especially when I don't know them personally. All are strangers here and I prefer to remain anonymous atleast image wise. After a very long time I decided to put my pictures up in my profile...for some reason I don't want my personal photo as my avatar.

I have put my photo as my avatar! But yours has rainbow! I can assume you as I set my interpretations regarding rainbow! And it is mostly abstract!

My real picture is on my avatar. I just like it better because I think it will make people see me as a real person instead of just a symbol! I know many people don't want to because of privacy issues, but I have my pictures up other places online also. If someone really wants to stalk me and kill me, they can do it regardless of whether they see my picture here! (However, I rarely post my legal first and last name!)
