Biting Nails

My. son recently started schooling, he has a problem of settling down, but also I noticed that he have developed a habit of bitibg nails. I have read i tsomewhere that this is due to psychological effect, I tried talking to him about that, but so far i havent achieved the results. I want to stop him from biting nails, probably he does when he is nervous. How can I over come this situation
