No longer an expensive hobby? Man, I must be doing it wrong.. lol.
My DSLR body and the lenses I've gotten for it certainly pushed this into the "expensive hobby" category for me at least.
Check out fredmiranda.com and sportshooter.com. Those have some REALLY good advice. Advanced notice, they're geared towards more professional shooters that have top of the line SLRs and very fast lenses, so you're best reading and absorbing for a few months before you go ahead with any questions. Stupid questions at these forums are usually blasted with "RTFM" or simply a short scolding to search the forums, accompanied with a few links to threads that are spot on with your question.
