yes bitting nails is a very bad habbit and even i was suffering from it.I wanted to quit it too.heres what i did to quit nail bitting
I used a product that was safe but that had a bitter taste so it reminded me that I was biting my nails. It is unnoticeble when it is on. I was also told that getting acrylic nails works because you can't bite through them. I wouldn't want to risk my teeth with that method. Good Luck and when you stop reward yourself with a nice pro manicure!!!!

Yuck, no way. I know a lot of people who do. I think they do it for the same reason you do. They are nervous, tensed or just plain stressed out. My only suggestion is to think about how dirty your hands are. LOL
I'm not saying you are dirty but maybe if you thought about all the germs and diseases you can catch from biting your nails it would discourage you from chewing on your nails. My daughter used to bite her nails for a couple of years than she started getting manicures. So now she chews on pens. Go figure.

no i dont bite my nails. nail biting is a copying mechanism. there's nothing wrong with it except that the society has a socially-contructed norm that consider it as dirty, unhealthy, unaesthetic and uninviting. Unfortunately, nail-biting can have some negative impact on one's health, as constant chewing can cause fingers to bleed, and wear down on the enamle of one's front teeth. Also, from a practical standpoint, working with needle and thread as well as removing stickers and labels become a pain. Habits are hard to break but you can do it! Try to replace the nail-biting behaviour with someother kind of behaviour, one that keeps your teeth and your fingers from interacting with one another. Keep this new behaviour consistantly in your mind. goodluck
Good luck
