April Fool's Day is coming up quick, and I thought I would share with you the menu that I'm planning. First, we start with dessert... Meatloaf "cupcakes" frosted with Mashed Potatoes. We move to our appetizer and have Mock Sushi. Finally our main dish... Spaghetti and Meatballs cake. These recipes are found on one of my favorite websites... www.familyfun.go.com/recipes/ Is anyone else planning something surprising for their family???

I was planning on meatloaf cake for dinner. It's meatloaf baked in cake pans and then put together with mashed potatos just like a regular layer cake. Then for dessert mock-pot pies. Pie crusts filled with vanilla pudding. You make your corn, carrots and peas using starburts or jolly rancher chews. You use cut up bananas for the potatos (I use diced pears) and cut up dried apple rings for the chicken. You make a top crust to place on top of the whole thing. It looks so real that your mind expects to taste pot pie and then you taste sweet pudding. It threw me when I had it last year at a friend's house.

I'm not but i once had this cake called dirt cake. It was the most delicious thing ever! I think the outside was crumbled oreo cookies. I'm not sure of the ingredients but I'm sure if you looked for it online, you could probably find it! You could even add gummi worms to the top.

April Fools Berry Soda - "Here's a prank that will get your family to pucker up! These berry 'beverages' look inviting to sip, but they're actually gelatin that's tricky to suck through a straw, so keep some spoons handy."
hello. ihave some april fools day recipes. why dont you give it a try for the next april fools day April Fools Berry Soda INGREDIENTS * 2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin * 3/4 cup sliced fresh strawberries * 3/4 cup fresh raspberries * 3/4 cup fresh blueberries DIRECTIONS 1. Prepare gelatin according to package directions. Refrigerate until partially set, about 2 hours. Stir in berries. Pour into six tall drink or soda glasses. Insert a straw into each glass. Refrigerate until set. Ice Cream Baked Potatoes INGREDIENTS * 1 pint vanilla ice cream * 1 (1 ounce) envelope instant cocoa * 4 tablespoons sweetened whipped cream DIRECTIONS 1. Scoop out 4 balls of ice cream roughly the size and shape of small potatoes. Roll in the hot cocoa mix until coated. Place on a plate and top with a dollop of whipped cream. The ice cream will look like baked potatoes with sour cream on top. Eat and enjoy. Hot Dog Cookies INGREDIENTS * 1 cup butter, softened * 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 2 cups all-purpose flour * 4 drops red food coloring * 3 tablespoons flaked coconut * 2 drops green food coloring * 1 (4.5 ounce) tube prepared yellow frosting DIRECTIONS 1. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the flour until dough is smooth. Remove 1 cup of dough, then cover and refrigerate remaining dough. Knead the red food coloring into the 1 cup of dough until the color of a hot dog is achieved. Refrigerate all dough for 1 hour. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Divide the red dough into 16 portions. Roll each piece into a 2 1/2 inch long sausage shape. For buns, divide the white dough into 16 portions and shape into 3 inch logs. Slice them almost in half lengthwise. Spread the buns open and place the hot dog doughs inside, leaving buns open. Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. 3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until firm. Remove from cookie sheets to cool. In a small jar or plastic bag, combine the coconut and green food coloring. Shake until coconut is evenly colored. Sprinkle over hot dog cookies when cool and make a zig zag with the yellow frosting for mustard.

Thanks for sharing those recipes! I have made the hot dog cookies before, for one of my kid's birthdays. He absolutely love them! :) I wish I would have had the "baked potato" idea for AFD! The kids really loved their meatloaf cupcakes, but I didn't get their spaghetti cake made. The ice cream would have been perfect for that!

Wow, the spagetti and meatballs cake looks so cool! I saw a similar sort of recipe once, it was a kitty litter cake! You get a new clean kitty litter plastic box to put the cake in, and it was decorated with chocolatey gobs that looked like poop. It REALLY looked gross, like a full dirty cat box, but apparently was a yummy dessert, it would be fun to serve as a joke!

I've make KL cake before!! I used Tootsie Rolls for the kitty poop. The kids thought that was hilarious!! I made one for the school's annual cake walk. I baked it a smaller disposable pan, wrapped in plastic wrap, and included a new (clean) kittylitter scoop. We arrived at the cake walk about 5 min. after it started, and it was gone already. ;)
