Is life real or is it just a matrix?

A question I was asked before. Is a chair really there. How do we know it's there? Is life just a huge matrix created by another race for their enjoyment, just like what we do with rats. If that, then how can you be sure anything is real itself?

While life MAY be an alien matrix, that chair is there because we've all made a subconscious agreement that it is. If everything is made up of atoms, which themselves have more space than mass, then everything we perceive as solid is really jelly-like, or even watery. There are very few who can really see beyond, or around, this "agreement." So, go ahead and sit in that chair! You won't fall down, even though we all know it's the IDEA of the chair that's the solid, not it's atomic structure. Great question!
