I'm starting PHP, can anyone tell me some nice sites with books or tutorials that could help me along? Would be nice if the sites were free. Would like code examples as well. Thanks.

There are many free e-books and tutorials on php and mysql database system.If you research on it carefully on search engines,you can easily find the one which makes benefit for you.You had better to find books about PHP in your country.

The best introductory tutorials are provided by W3C school, and they provide simple examples there. php.net is the official site.

I have to say w3schools is the best site I know on web.Here's the link to php lessons on their site http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp .It is free.
